I'm just saying I'd never do it, won't ever do i, but think there could be real consequences. there is a disclaimer on the dash/ infotainment so you acknowledge
"Yes this is just for parking at a car show" or
"I'm only doing this on a racing circuit and understand it makes the car illegal"
One (of many) unfortunate consequence of incidents like this is that car makers may shy away from offering the possibility of such extreme track setups in the future, due to the legal liability involved (even if negligence on part of user - not saying there was or wasn't any in this case). Seems like there was possibly an issue with the car (fuel leak?) together with the presence of a spark that would cause such an inferno.
I guess one solution would be to prevent the car from being moved when in the lowered position (for car shows) and only moved in lowered position when GPS detects you are at a race circuit.
The poster above said 'not driveable on the street'. Not race mode specific.
I find it difficult to believe that in it's normal ride height you would be so at risk of damaging the front spoiler that you wouldn't want to drive it on the road....

Ride height in race mode is what we are talking about. Front spoiler and rear diffuser would cost GT3RS money to replace
There is enough money involved here, particularly w/ the included ADM, that this will undoubtedly be a contested liability hot potato. Fraud, latent defect, operator error, etc. Potentially the manufacturer has the most at stake long term.
I agree with CJ on the assessment cost in repairing/replacing carbon fiber components underneath the car. I was inquiring about repair/replacement cost of carbon fiber components underneath a CGT (which does not have front lift hydraulics) and minimally speaking it would easily cost an entry level Lexus. They are expensive.
Drive safe,

Can we stop talking about that knucklehead and get back to talking about cars?
600LT Spider is just around the corner. I'm not normally an open-top guy but the thought of ripping around with open flamethrowers a few inches behind my head is strangely appealing....

Yeah, I'm a Coupe guy too, but with McLaren there is a very small performance penalty for going topless (and some instances where it's much more fun).
Yeah, the penalty is a lot less than say with Ferrari. Not sure the percentage of stiffness loss, but I think it was something like 30% on a Spider. That has to show up.
