I also enjoy 6 figure watches that depreciate.
Many of the people commenting are in the wrong hobby. They use the "perceived" value of a GT3 as their reasoning to purchase the car. Take a look at how many PTS threads there are in the last 18 months.
You want real depreciation, go buy a new Rolls/Bentley, ask me how I know. But they are fun to me, hence why I just ordered another Rolls.

From a numerical standpoint yes. But for some, its just a meaningless number. I treat money as tool, I am not that emotionally tied to it as most on RL there days. I have found that I am a pretty good at making more money, but not time.

I don't own a McLaren, although I might in the future. Provided that should transpire, I would be a beneficiary of the fearsome depreciation that has afflicted the brand thus far (and will probably continue to impact the McLaren market, because consumers expect McLarens to depreciate substantially), at least until I decided to sell the car. I'm 29, and there are lots of ways I'd rather spend $100K+ than watching it evaporate.
What does a $239K sub 5,000 mile 675LT look like in 2 years with 25,000 miles? I don't know...

To to me that car is crap. Did not care for it at all, but it’s cheap.
the LTs have been better received- I don’t know, never drove one but everyone that has seems to love them.
The 720 is a beast. It’s just a different car. Will it depreciate like previous models? Probably, but man oh man the car is so
much fun to drive. If you don’t want to blow a 100k, no reason to. Buy something else. But anything new is likely going to go down, even the precious Porsche brand. I just sold an RS when I bought my 720. At trade in time, the market was “soft”. All of a sudden after all the hype, the market became soft when it was time for me to sell. It is what it is.
Mclarens have historically gone down but also realize no one I know paid msrp for the 659s. Almost bought a 320k car for 254k brand new. But backed out after driving it against a 488.
The new generation 720 and likely 600 seem to be doing much better. At least on par with Ferrari.

Buy a two year old 650. Depreciation is done. Mark was like 300k. You can get a low mile example for like 180k. Actually closer to 3 years old cause last model year was 2016 on those.

I am curious about how (if at all?) McLaren helps dealers bear the costs of selling new cars substantially below MSRP: They are a growing brand with a limited dealer footprint - how often has a poster on here said "I'd love to buy a McLaren but I live in X and my nearest dealer is YYY miles away" - ? McLaren cannot afford for disgruntled dealers to exit the marketplace, which would poison the well for existing and potential customers, as well as other dealers. I recall that they produce ~4,000 cars a year globally, and they have reiterated that they won't build a crossover or SUV, examples of which will form the volume leader for Lamborghini (~50% of future production, which will grow from ~3,500 units to ~7,000 courtesy of the Urus) and potentially Ferrari.

The ones from the current or recent range that appeal to me the most are 675LT and 720S.

His Chicago store is a few blocks from my office - beautiful inventory of cars, McLaren and other marques, as well.

FWIW, new 720s discount (2019) on a more friends rate is only 7 percent anymore...that's shrunk up quite a bit since the 650s. I'm sure some 2018 720s' will be had for a point or two more off but that's mainly at dealers discretion.

RM Depreciation, really?
Respectfully, for those who really follow watch brands, Richard Mille's have appreciated incredibly well/fast and none (not one model) is depreciating. A RM011 originally priced at $80k is now selling well above $100k (as are RM05, RM010, RM030, RM050, other models, etc.).
