There was one episode Homer Simpson designed a car. Is Homer back?

Although I would temper it a bit since a lot of people reacted similarly to the Senna - saying it was ugly. And auto design is hard and whimsical... But it wasn't $2.5M either...
That's exactly it.. look at how much investment Mercedes is putting into the project one, with innovative engine and suspension.. or look at the Adrian Newey designed 7L V12 Valkyrie. where would your $2.5M go?

Senna is $1M and it's a driving experience which can't be touched, the other McLaren's are by far segment leaders with carbon chassis and performance stats which blow everyone else away for the price. But I feel their halo car misses the mark.

+1 - Though this is a Porsche forum where people like the 911 design which changes 1% to 5% each model year, so not surprising a big change gets a negative reception.

It reminds me a lot of the F1 GTR. Replace the roof with glass, modernize the design elements, create space for 3 given current increasing size of the population...

I don't see how the Speed Tail looks anywhere close to the beautiful F1 GTR?? All these criticism on the Speed Tail is not because this is a Porsche forum, but I think car guys from all over doesn't think the new Speed Tail looks good.

Speed tail is an absolute design fail. That long tail looks friggin ridiculous, like it's running around with a full diaper. I love the other McLarens and I also love the Senna.

Should be called the SpeedFAIL.

The interior looks incredible but the exterior of the speedtail is a shame McLaren has had incredible designs (P1, 570GT, 720S) and horrid fails (12C, 650S, Senna).

I know they are pushing the envelope but this may have been too much, too soon...

Pushing the envelope. And some pain/pushback is bound to happen. Always does. But some that do not like it will still look. And at some point some will have a change of heart. Some always will and some, never. If you got the mils to burn, no other opinions matter.
Happy as can be with my 570S.

The F1 road car they based the long tail
GTR off of us like a Porsche GT1 with no wing. Looks very similar to SpeedMac.

SpeedMac is going to be a super fast slingshot of a car but the only thing I am really questioning (that I anticipated a huge change with) is the steering wheel.

I knew it would look like this and told everyone to expect a futuristic looking 962 but the same shape on the steering wheel is a bummer.

That is surprising, With such a risk taking design project you would think they would go with a pure race car like steering wheel with proper controls ala the Mercedes project one. Maybe even a clutch paddle just to be different

Someone is trying to sell their allocation for $10MM, my dealer was over my house and he told me. One of the most ridiculous statements I've heard in a long time, my dealer agreed.
