not everyone will but you be surprised.
my neighbor just paid a tad shy of 200k for his.
and if i find the right one, i pay part with 200k. i had 5 RS3.8 but i was too dumb to keep any of them.

there are two no actively for sale that i would pay 200 for. but they want 275 and 300... out of my range.
another friend who bought a very special RS3.8 for 275 range.
so if the right car finds the right buyer, 200+ is still the market.
but that is NOT the general mkt. as that has dropped a bit.

mostly friends' cars
i am a "scapegoat" amongst our friends
wives ask, "it's mooty's car...."
i do charge a lot of money per year for scapegoating. it's a new subsidiary of "mooty's obsession".

Last year a friend sold his 2011 GT3RS, white with red graphics, cage, 6 point Schroth, LWB, manual, clear mask entire front end, really nice shape cosmetically, nice spec, 5000 miles, light track use and zero over-revs in all ranges (I saw the DME report).

Sale price was $195 which was $5 less than the seller wanted, but it was a divorce sale and he was anxious to see it go. There were LOTS of inquiries at the asking price of $205k.

It sold in less than 2 weeks.

Short term speculation is always risky. I can't see how the 991rs will hold its above Msrp short term.
The trend is downward, prices are dropping. New cars are coming out. 991gt2rs will be the next greatest.

Long term they will be worth money. Thinking 10-15 years ahead. Just bubble wrap and keep in A/C storage.

I like the one of the previous posts. 20k hit in 10 months. 2000dollar/month is not so bad.
Just drive!

in germany the cheapest RS has 3000 miles on it and sells for roughly 195K Euro and there are about 30 who sell around the 200K mark, which means all around or slightly below sticker

Not as far as what I have seen. Sub $10k examples are not moving for $200k. All these cars have come down in value by almost 10-20%. The market has softened over this time last yr.

200k sales on 997 Rs are very very rare now. That car would have to be under 1k miles and motivated buyer. The well is dry for those willing to pay that money for that car.

in EU:
991.1 GT3RS are already slightly below sticker with some miles.
997.2 GT3RS are still slightly above sticker (+10-20k€) as long under 20k miles.
and the fun fact: 991.1 GT3 are at sticker with a couple of thousand miles ???

how all this will be mixed up - as soon a manual 991.2GT3 will arrive which maybe is better than the .1RS?

Who buys a 997GT car only based on the (more unstable) chassis? When he could have for the same money a 991GT also with a manual... and with uptodate car entertainment, and inclusive warranty.

i still do not believe that PAG will not push out the 991.2GT3 as fast as possible. maybe implementing them on another line - the slower they produce - the less cars they will sell. As soon 991.2GT3 are at mobile.de below MSRP - half of the contract signers will step back. And as long 991.1GT3RS are available at/below MSRP i can´t imagine the 991.2GT3 above MSRP.

You say more unstable, I say more fun. I have zero interest in the newer technology, automatic gearbox, RWS, etc., etc. Drove one, found it uninspiring and voted w. my wallet. Didn't pay anywhere near $200K but my car is worth that much to me and more and I have no desire to let it go for a new one. Warranty? Only need it if your engine is prone to grenading

Even if the next GT3 has 3 pedals I am still a fan of a simple car w. a Mezger motor and a G50 derivative 6-speed manual. I don't need car play, lap timer apps, or any other gimmicks they put in the new cars now. If I wanted a technologically advanced and really well balanced car I'd be looking at a McLaren not a Porsche. I've liked Porsche over the years for other reasons.

So as you see there are buyers in all price ranges looking for a different experience.

exactly this. i didn´t pointed out that i´m also none/one of those...
that was the reason why i traded my 991RS against a 997.2GT3RS. why i love to drive Caterhams.

but if you look on the group of buyers in total it is different. some of us (we) are not "normal"

bot
my guess is: 991RS prices will not go up in the next half year.

Sold 991 3 after 6000 miles and got GT4. Still have 4 for now but 3 weeks ago bought 2011 GT3 RS. Waiting for it to be delivered and can't wait. Miss the "old school" feel. YMMV
