Lots of opinions on RS pricing but my opinion is that prices have softened to anywhere from $25-$50K premium on a new car with the right specs. Price softening is a function of the time of year and the fact that there are still new unsold cars available, though that is dropping as production is ceasing. I expect that RS prices will firm up in the spring as the weather warms and the new unsold cars are gone. The next 3RS will be a ways out (assuming one is built) so I expect prices to stay firm for a while. The new 991.2 GT3 will put some downward pressure on RS pricing given the performance similarity and the availability of the manual in the .2 GT3, but an RS is an RS and will always be very desirable.

Agree with the comments on the 570S. I think it's a great car, but not a track car in the way that a 3 or RS is. The comments about the 570 brake feel is spot on - they have an odd sort of wooden feel to them. The initial pedal throw produces no braking and then it is very stout but doesn't have the confident modulating feel of Porsche or Ferrari. Another knock for me on the 570 are the paddle shifters - they don't have the positive engaging feel of Ferrari (the best IMO) or Porsche. The Mac's feel a bit like clicking a paddle shifter for a video game. That said, I think the 570 is a fairly good value given the entry price point. They have held their value fairly well through the first year of sale - I think they will do better than the 991 Turbos in large part because there are just too many 911s out running around - the Mac is a more exotic and special car. 570S Spider should be introduced in 2017 and that may hurt coupe prices depending on how it's priced.

Excellent and a big gain over the 675LT - this is the one downside of Mclaren or any hybrid car as Ford produced 700 with six cylinders.

These cars becoming lighter offering more hp are going to get a lot of guys including me in trouble.

Which Ford V6 produces 700hp? Certainly not the new GT? All I've read is that it's 'more than 600'.

P14 vs GT will be an interesting comparison. Both carbon tubbed with turbos and aero trickery. Ford will obviously be disadvantaged with their 3.5L vs McLaren's 4.0L, although it may successfully offset this deficit with less weight.

Yep, I switched from GT3 to 570S and don't regret a thing! There appears to be a few entrenched views in this thread that I won't try and debate - each to their own no problem. I'd summarize as:
~ From a factual view point if you're worried about depreciation &/or you want a car mainly / purely for the track - keep GT3. Very, very few cars have depreciation rates similar to GT3. Mac got it wrong with 12C and 650S with supply and demand and have learned from that. Of course 570S will depreciate but not at the rate earlier models did.
~ From a subjective point of view IMHO the 570S is a far better looking car, the cockpit is a much better place to be, the car is superb to drive (suspension, chassis, steering feel, weight) the technology gets better and better and the overall driving experience in a 570S for me is just way better. Plus it's got "those doors"!!

For a company that have been making road going cars for just 5.5 years (F1 excluded) I'm very impressed with McLaren. Could they do better - of course but I'm certain the new P14 will blow everything else away. McLaren will continue to pull F, P, L and R8 car owners away. Maybe not die hard GT3 owners. There's several guys from this forum who have now switched and not looking back. As always YMMV.

PS - if you don't like attention or prepared to talk to people whenever you stop do not get a 570S!!

OP, have you test driven the 570S? I was very excited about the car and considered a similar trade. I love its aesthetics and technology. However, after a test drive my excitement cooled. I didn't find it nearly as engaging. In fairness, I think this is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. The 570 would be a great addition to your garage, but if you love your GT3 I think you would miss it. Just my 2 cents.

I'll be finalizing my order with CJ's dealership as soon as I get back to NY on a 570S. You could say it's replacing a GT3 as the garage space it'll be in was occupied by my GT3 when I had it.

I plan on getting the P14 as well, but I wanted to try a McLaren out first with a lower admission price.

Correct 630 was the rumor my guess is they can and will get 700.

488 P14 and so on - at 400k and a run of 3 years Ford has to be competitive thru the build.

I would say if you are after a different driving experience, get the 570S.
I've only driven the 570S on the street and it is a much more comfortable car to drive and it's also faster than the GT3 both on the street and track (I was on track with a few 570S's and GT3s with my 650S). The entire driving experience is totally different to the GT3. Try to take one for a test drive if you can.

I agree I drove one and found it fun and comfortable. I think it's a better car than the 911 turbo s. But im still debating on it because it does draw a lot of attention and not the most practical car day to day.

I have driven the 570s on the street and track for extended periods, its better than the GT3 and 911 turbo S imho, I currently own a 15 GT3, 16 GT3 RS, and a 675 LT spider and had a 15 650S.

If I didn't have the 675LT, I would sell my GT3 and get a 570s, but would keep my RS.

I would sell the GT3 and get the RS if you want a more track focused car. If you want a weekend car and occasional track get the 570s.

I suspect it'll be closer to 630 than 700, but we'll know soon.

I also expect the P14 will outperform it in most performance metrics. Looking forward to see the battle!

mclaren keeps adding more hp by reflex as a proxy for 'progress' and 'competitiveness'... but their cars can't put the power down onto tarmac as they are ... somebody there needs a reality check and think about awd and proper diffs

Mark my words, when the aliens finally attack, the first things to transform into Decepticons are gonna be those McLarens, and we're all going to smack our foreheads and say 'oh, man, we shoulda seen that coming...'
