991.2 GTS, GT3, GT2, GT3 RS, Mission E - Update

With respect, I disagree.....Giving a GT3 a MT will just put the GT3 brand back a generation. Ie slower lap time than the Gen 1 PDK-S version. This Gen 2 is an evolution not a step back.
I can see how a softer version with less Bhp, damping, very little % rws like on our Rs, along with not having a full e lsd..etc would work......But MT on a car with a GT3 badge on the back, don't see it........

I want a Porsche for the driver involvement and feeling which needs a manual to complete it. I skipped the 991.1 GT3 and GT3RSbecause it was a PDK and i couldnt get my hand on a 991 R. Im on the list for a 991.2 GT3, but it have to get a 4.0 and Manual or I'm going elsewhere.

If i want the fatest car for the money i wouldnt look at a GT3 or even a GT3RS. There are lots of options for the same money or half the price that are faster around a lap time and straighline.

If the .2GT3 was PDK only, there'd be no reason for me to buy it since I already have a PDK RS. The fact that it'll be manual and different from my RS brings me back into the market.

I don't think you'll see much lap time difference between manual and PDK GT3, and that's not part of the appeal of the PDK for me. What I like about the PDK:
- Convenient in auto mode when going to and from the track, or dealing with heavy traffic
- It's own kind of fun on the road in manual mode
- It's own kind of fun on the track in manual mode (I don't use auto mode on the track, but many like it)
- Prevents missed shift which could blow the (very expensive) engine and/or lock up the rear tires and cause loss of control and possible crash; if your GT3 engine fails under warranty, but has overrevs, what are the chances Porsche will provide a replacement engine under warranty? very little risk of overrevs from driving on the road, but overrevs are common on heavily tracked cars which are pushed hard

please name your options (for RS).
add depreciation and they would not even have to bang.
think about the 7 vs. 6 speed gearbox/ratio

The manual vs PDK debate will go on after we are dead.
From a money stand-point, Porsche hit it out of park with offering a PDK only GT car. They had a license to print money. All the track-rats and new money/youtube money people who can't drive a stick were drooling at the mouth. Then offer the GT4 and R for that 1% of people that were pissed off at them for offering a PDK only car. Boom. More money.
From the "heart" stand-point, they failed miserably. I am in this small group. I was annoyed how they can offer a PDK only GT car. Left a sour taste in my mouth and lost interest in the .1 GT3 and purchased a GTS instead; couldn't be happier.
Now offer a .2 GT3 in a manual; and holy $hit....people go crazy and buy two. Driving demand even more. More money. VAG has the cash to pay-out their diesel fall-out.

Three Wheelin'
I really can't decide on the transmission. PDK is better for keeping yourself in the top of the rev range and that is where you need to be to enjoy the car to the max. It's all about the engine and PDK gives you better access. BTW I only ever drive it in manual mode. Love the way it neither kicks down or shifts up. Obviously you miss the clutch but I think better access to the engine, the fact you change gear more often makes up for it. Couldn't care less about which is faster.

I think there there could many interesting scenarios that could play out with the 991.2 GT3:
1) If it ended up being a Turbo - How many now would buy one?? Not me because all NA GT car values would increase significantly and I have no interest unless NA. I thyink they would struggle to sell them all.
2) No Manual - No interest. Will keep GT4
3) Manual but with a 3.8. This one would be interesting!! Would have to see if will remain 9000 redline and if it is just the "fixed" current 991 GT3 engine. I find this scenario I would have to watch how it plays out early on
4) 4.0 with Manual - trading my GT4
5) 3.8 PDK only - Been there
6) 4.0 PDK only - How many would upgrade and would they sell them all at MSRP??
