but the character of the "Turbos" has always been the vacuum clearner sound with high boost pressure, not the progressive character of the latest "normal" turbo 911's. The the reason they need to go turbo (at least with the RS) is that you can't get any more power, or cc's out of the current engine.

They can get it to a 4.2L 525hp engine.

Will this apply to the next generation of GT cars based on the 992 platform as well? I'm curious how long can they keep going with N/A. Lamborghini has said they will go on as long as possible and their cars will remain N/A for the foreseeable future. They can treat the exhaust to reduce harmful particles.

Just too early to tell and it's at least 2 years out, maybe 3. Maybe it till be a hybrid or sometime of kers system.

Would be a real shame, I test drove the 991.2 two days ago, and while it was an awesome car in every way, the sound was a bit disappointing. Hybrid is preferable to turbo imo.

Give the GT2 an optional manual and homologate it. Make the GT3 and RS purist cars.

Best of both.

The 997 was replaced by the longer, wider 991 to accommodate a hybrid system. I tend to think that dual motors is where they are going for the near term. They have the knowledge with the 918.

About a year ago FSW told me no hybrid 991, unequivocally.

Maybe he doesn't read Jalopnik?

The 991 was not about last year or 2-3 years ago. This design was to accommodate a possible hybrid. I am done with your superior intellect and understanding, I cannot compete, as I live in a fact based environment.
