magnesium wheels out of stock
There we are ! Delivery of my full black 2rs weissach for next Friday, and I just received a mail telling me Porsche is sorry to announce that the car will be delivered with aluminium wheels instead and that magnesium wheels will be available by Q4.
No excuse, no nothing !
Are any of you guys in this situation ? And if so what has Porsche / dealer offered ? What would you do ?
Was looking forward so much, now just pissed 😤
it is my third gt in few years with them 997.2 gt3, 991.1 gt3 rs and now gt2 rs ws. Was hoping to trade my 991.1rs for a .2 but they can t allocate a car !!!!!!
No excuse, no nothing !

That is very upsetting about the wheels, hopefully they will compensate you some how, maybe with a fresh set up rubber with the new wheels. ....in that case I would schedule as many track days as you can in the next few months.

Thinking FIA GT3 cars, the absolute best qualifying time for the 2017-18 24 hours of Nurburgring races was the GT3 R this year at 8:09.1. I see the track length for the 2018 race configuration was listed as 25,378 m (15.769 mi) instead of the 20,600 m (12.800 mi) for the street car's flying lap. Despite the differences in the track configuration, the overall average speed for each car is:
GT2RS: 115.5 mph
GT3 R: 116.1 mph (best in qualifying)
Quite close - quite impressive!

The positive is that I will keep the aluminium wheels free of charge.

991.1 GT3 RS: 7:20
991.2 GT3 7:13
991.1 GT3 RS (Cup 2 R) 7:09? (11 second difference between the stock MPSC2 N1 spec vs the R?)
991.2 GT3 RS (Cup 2 N2) 7:03
991.2 GT3 RS (Cup 2 R) 6:56
If correct this would suggest ~45% of the lap time improvement from the .1 to .2 RS is down to tires (assuming suspension stiff enough to take advantage of them).

It's likely that the GT2 is more traction limited than the 3RS, so ~7 seconds for the 3 (vs 8 for the 2RS)? That would suggest roughly:
991.1 GT3 RS: 7:20
991.2 GT3 7:13
991.1 GT3 RS (Cup 2 R) 7:09? (11 second difference between the stock MPSC2 N1 spec vs the R?)
991.2 GT3 RS (Cup 2 N2) 7:03
991.2 GT3 RS (Cup 2 R) 6:56
