AP hints again at a manual 991.2 GT3

People need to consider that every new generation is " better " than the last. The 911R is the last " Hurrrraaaah " of the 991.1 body. The 991.2 GT3 will be a .2 body and have all of the .2 body upgrades. Following your logic, people that have a 997.2 RS 4.0 should be pissed because the 991.1 GT3RS is 500 HP and faster...

Hopefully it will bring the 997 GT3 prices back down to 2012-13 levels.

The only manual that Porsche has had that can handle the sheer power of the Mezger engines is the G50, and given the time that they had to develop the 991 R, I am sure it is still the G50. Brilliant transmission from the 996 Cup car. Hoping that the 991.2 gets it. For the most part, Porsche listened to us manual only guys.

I fully expect the R, .2GT3, and .2RS will all have the latest manual tranny "tidbits" that they provided with the GT4.
Self-adjusting pressure plate, clutch-stop (to control dumping), and auto downshift rev-match. We might even see dual-mass flywheels the RS, just the lightest one.
It will cut down on their pre-mature warranty repairs from track abuse exponentially......

Prices for 997RS will only climb, the 991 no matter what transmission is still luxo, large and as AP put it "driving an I-phone". Even the "purist" 991R still retained the 4wheel steering (not talked about but I am sure it has electric steering as well) as with all future GT.
997gt3 might stabilize but there is never going to be anything close to a 997RS ever again and with its low production numbers will or already has founds its to owners who have no intention of letting them go, especially for any future gt3 even if manual.

It will. The prices shot through the roof in December 2013 - when the PDK only GT3 was a 100% possibility. I am not selling my 997.1 ever, but I am sure some will start dumping their cars for the 991.2 GT3. It will be interesting to see what happens to the 997gt3 market if gen2 991gt3 will be offered with MT as option.
The R is so limited (especially US market 265 cars) it won't affect the values of 997.
I think we will see a market correction on 997.3 if 991.3 gen 2 will be offered with MT.
Same goes for 997rs if 991.2RS will be offered with MT as option.

All we can do is let our opinions simmer for awhile and see, but again the 991 is an entirely different 911 regardless if a manual transmission offered or not, you know this.

Glad you linked this article. Looks like the GT3 is getting a manual! In the past Andreas said the GT3 may get a manual, but not for the RS version as it's purely for the track.
991.2 GT3 trumps the 991.1 911R. No point in buying the R other than collectibility. Hopefully it gets the 4.0L since it's the final send off before turbocharging the 992 generation.

I've had a deposit on the 991.2 GT3 and GT3 RS for almost two years now, and I've secured top spots. With that said, no matter what the 997.2 GT3 RS models will be regarded as the best driver's cars Porsche ever built. They're untouchable.
