I was told they will put a newer version of the engine. Previous G engine was replaced on March 2016

To my knowledge from reading Macca's replies to my PMs he said there is a G and a G1 (newer version of G). I assume what Doctor W. said would be replaced from this moment onwards to the COG is newer than G1. No idea if it is called G2 or H. I am sure we will find out shortly.

I think Mwar will be able to share the info when his new engine comes

I already asked that before on this topic with no reply but anyone using a 5w50 or 10w60 oil got the dlc engine problems?

I know porsche reccommended oil for the gt3 is 5w40 but some owners that track the car in Europe are using other oils and I don t know if that could make a difference or not.

Mine was replaced in Dec with a G6, should be newer/ later designation.

10w60 is not the solution, but definitely will help to extend life time out of the engine if used at the race track.

Mine was G0 replaced in March(the one that broke down now). I hope Porsche has made some changes with G6.

I'm a bit sceptical regarding to RS and R. The parts catalogue says the topend is exactly the same. So this engines should also be prone to the problem.

With later G (G1/G6 however...) they introduced the DLC coated camshafts. Maybe thats the solution - but not all the RS have these camshafts installed.

As was discussed by Dr. Walliser, there are enough differences (springs, redline, etc.) that these RS and R engines are not affected. They were tested using the same testing procedure that reproduces this problem on some GT3's. No issues. Also, no reports of RS/R failures that we know of.

And if, at some point this problem does happen, Porsche will step up. Absolutely nothing to worry about.

It may help to put details such as springs and red line on page 1 of your COG announcement thread.
So far there is a very general `He explained that there are many differences between the GT3 and R/RS engines.' statement.
There are a lot of technically oriented people here that are only satisfied by understanding specifically why R and RS are considered to not be affected by Porsche.

This issue was addressed in comments in that thread. We would not feel comfortable revising the OP after we gave PAG an advance copy of it in the form it is in now.

Sent a 2016 to the dealer two weeks ago after I noticed something internally wrong with the engine in the high RPM's. Was told a cylinder had issues that they needed to determine. It was not misfiring and I new it was mechanical before it was sent to the dealer. They determined it wasn't an easy fix and a new engine is on its way to the dealer!!! This is very very exciting new for me! I'm very happy to get a fresh new engine in the car, now the next thing i need is a new clutch and I'm golden
