I assumed the compound on the 991.2GT3 is same as on 991.1RS. Is this not the case?

They are both "N1" but some have speculated that the N1 on the .2 GT3 is a newer compound. The N1 for the RS having been developed a while ago for the 918.

Trofeo's are great. All our local GT cars have switched to them, and are enjoying the noticeable results at the track.

I'd definitely be using them until we can test some next-gen Cup-2's against them, and even then, they still may be faster. Trofeos are damn near Hoosier grip.

I was on 2.5F and 1.4R before I thought it was a good compromise for 80% track 20% street but I think I'm gonna go for 3.5F now with a stiffer suspension.

I think based on the nurburgring time of the new gt3 7:12.70, as much as the engine is better aero better suspension is better etc, I can't help but feel that there have also been developments in the tire department. imo.

Maybe we can fit the next gen tires of the GT2RS.

3-4 trackdays coming up soon, but will require a lot of street driving in between (a few thousand km's), any suggestions on the setup? Currently stock on Cup 2s.. The car is used for 60% street and 40% track.
Thanks!

Would just maintain the stock camber but ensure it's consistent. The car really is perfectly ok for the road and track as-is. Extreme camber does not seem to yield real results for grip or wear on the Cup2. Personally would set rear ARB to stiff and front to middle to reduce some of the outside wear on tyres. Maximum grip of Cup2 seems to be 2bar/29psi hot, or even a bit lower. But that does increase wear and you need to really properly warm them up (start by (leftfoot) braking a lot to heat the wheels on first lap before heating the tyres by going hard left/right). Safer to go bit higher on pressures, but the car does become snappy when the pressures go too high. I tend not to go over 2.3bar.

Have fun.

I posted my set-up numbers a while back in this thread. I've had a few months to try them out and love them. Solid grip but also extremely good tire wear. I'm an intermediate level track driver. Worth checking out before you settle in on your approach.

Good luck!

I found the Trofeos were not worth the hassle on the 991.1 GT3 because of the narrow range of pressures/temp they would work. Cup 2s are way less moody..

Has that changed on the 20/21s on the RS?
Time to go back?

Guys, is it ok to discuss brakes recommendations in this thread?

Running PCCB's on my '16 RS and was just quoted $32,000 to bring in 4 rotors - was thinking to keep them handy, but at that price I better see if I should take the PCCB's off and keep them for when I sell the car and use something more practical for tracking.

Also, what brake pads do you recommend for track? I'm planning to keep the car for at least 5 years and track the hell out of it (5% street use). Many Thanks in advance for your advice!

No need to have spare inventory of your PCCB. They will wear and have eye watering replacement cost, but are more durable than prior gen. Up to you if you think they are worth the cost/don't mind spending the money. If it were me, I'd get steel rotors/pads that fit the PCCB calipers and keep the stock brakes for when you sell it. Pad recs will depend on what you decide to do with the rotors.

OT: Ever take the RS to Cabo? Down there every year, I think I'd fall over if I saw one driving around down there.

Thanks Signes! Any recommendations on which rotors/pads work best for track (don't care about street)?

Wife n I spend October to April in Cabo, so PM me if you're coming down! We're right on Medano beach. No place for Mr. Purple down there! haha! Running it at Area 27 track in BC.

Thanks a lot, I found the numbers. Any info on the sway bar settings? Also regarding the ride height in the rear, seems very low in comparison to Trakcar's post on the first page (268mm vs. your 130mm)

Thanks!
