Just in time

The RSRs are close to a full second behind the GTLM leading Ferrari 488 and the new Fords. I have to assume the Turbo vs. Normal aspiration motors make up the bulk of the time difference. Difficult to tell if there is sandbagging going on or whether the new packages at Ferrari and Ford are far superior. If BOP adjustments are not favorable, we Porsche aficionado are in for a L O N G racing season.

On the other hand the GT3 Rs are holding up well. Either near or at the lead. Don't know if those cars are running the 9a1 motor. Will ask tomorrow and see what I can find.

Update. One of the RSRs caught a Flyer and is 3/10 behind.

Remember the Roar is a test weekend. Each manufacturer has an agenda so each cars potential won't be fully revealed until the race weekend.

I am hoping to be at Daytona tomorrow. Will ask the mechanics point blank what the engines are, but at this stage I have no doubt it is some version of the 9a1. I much doubt it is a stock engine. Whatever has been reported in the press points to the 4.0 from the RS.

Correct I would say that Porsche is holding its card closely ,,,,I think they are in for some stiff competition this year with the new Turbo cars of Ferrari and alike and want to see what the opposition is capable off before showing their hand.......

No different spec car greater Aero , wider track larger rubber etc developed for the FIA World Endurance Championship,,in answer to your question about how to follow the series I do it online ........

Rsr is much different from the cup car from my understanding. Costs close to $500k - different aero, suspension, motor. I think the RSR (GTLM) still has the old metzger motor, while the cars in GTD are running our direct injection 9A1 motors. The GTLM (GT Le Mans) cars are factory teams from porsche (gt3 RSR), BMW (m6), Chevy (c7r), ford (new GT), Ferrari (488). GtD are private teams running fia gt3 spec cars.
