This weekend it was NLS 6H at Nürburgring.
We where very close to get pole in our class: We where p1 as long as the track was wet but of course it dried up a bit during the last 10 minutes of qually.
We ended up on p4 in class which was fine by me as I was supposed to do the start.
Of course I messed up the start of the race and we fell back a lot.
I got a bit over excited when overtaking another car in teh same class on the start finish line and buried the car deep in the gravel pit. We lost 3+ minutes there.
Later I was hit hard by a BMW M2 Cup in Adenauer Forst but manage to keep the car on track. The alignment was fine after the hit so we drove the car to the end.
After the race I saw that he hit me just infront of my rear wheel. I waslycky he didn't hit the wheel. The car needs minor fixes and should be ready for the next race which is in 2 weeks.
We ended up in p4 which we are very happy about. The gap to p3 was more than the time I spent in the gravel trap (pew!) so my bad (too late) braking manoeuvre didn't cost us a trophy.
The following Sunday it was TF as usual (2021-09-12).
I have got this idea that I can drive 1000km's in one day in Touristdriving.
(There was these 1000 km's races back in the days. Actually they have relaunched it this year for Classics.)
So I did another attempt. This was my third attempt this year. 1000 km's is about 48 full laps.
It has turned out to be really difficult. The stars must align in a special order for it to be possible.
This day it was within my reach until a very nasty MC accident happened in late afternoon. I really hope that the driver is OK (alive that is).
My co driver in the races was behind the MC when he basically drove straight into the fence at the entrance of Galgenkopf. He flew over the Armco.
Ambulance and helicopter to his rescue.
Nevertheless I ended up doing 44 laps, approximately 920 km's or 571 miles.
Amazing car indeed. Almost 50.000 km's now.
Today it is getting new side muffler on the extended warranty and new windscreen washer connection between the hood and body.
Also the button for the passenger side window will be replaced as it gets stuck in close mode when used.
Earlier I've gotten a new rear window (plastic) as the old one came loose a bit.
Also two new camshaft sensors has been changed.
Other than these things the car has been perfect.
@Trakcar This is the last set of the tires I got from you. Still fresh enough for another attack on 48 laps :-)
^^ Very nice Dan :-)
Dream day, you were trying to get good mileage out of the car? Need to, in order to squeeze an extra lap out of the car?
Yes - I short shifted a lot. Manage to get 14 laps out of one tank (I believe 15 is possible but don't want to experiment too much).
Filling up the tank costs a lot of time.
My plans are simple: All races in NLS + N24H + a few RCN's. Doing TF mostly in in connection with the races. At least one Scuderia Hanseat as co driver to my wife.
