I'm not that excited about the car, but we will see what the final specs will be.
But me thinks, why a lighter faster simpler GT4? At limited edition pricing and if you don't use it on the track buy a manual Aston Martin and a manual GT4even. CPO 991 manual for 70K...

its nice to see magnus is now chief graphic designer at PAG. i am quite impressed with the accent.
911. so it's not all that limited then.
pfffff. next.
make 100 of them, so we can fight and talk more about it. owning the actual car is boring. it's all the chit chat that gives the woods.
i am pretty sure 911R will come to US. first of all, last number i heard is that they will make 911 of them - not 250 units like they did with Sport Classic.
also, Sport Classic couldn't be brought into US because it would have to go through crash testing due to bubble roof change (crash testing story sounds familiar? yup - 959 deja-vu) and with only 250 Sport Classics built Porsche decided to not go crash testing route. with 911 911R units, even if Porsche does need to do crash testing due to different (more lightweight) body materials used, i am highly confident they will do it due to sheer number of cars built.

Someone (a reliable source better than the cleaning lady) just mentioned to me today that the 911R will be the "next" 911 GT3.
"Next" in the sense that the 911R will be what would have been the 991.2 GT3.
And, as the story goes, the next 911 GT3 won't bow until the 992 bodystyle is revealed.
Me thinks ... actually, me doesn't know what to think.
Take it for what it's worth.

This 991R "info" is all over the place!! Already sold out, Europe only, 600 units, 911 units, etc ....
My dealer is already taking 991.2 deposits and has many 918 customers.

It would not be surprising if 991.2 GT3 was not released...based on the never before 3 straight model years of 991.1 GT3 production (14,15,16) this very well could have been plan from start.

Or adding year 3 screwed up the .2 plans?

I find it hard to believe, the 991.3 was a huge success. Despite the engine trouble early on they
managed record sales for a Motorsport product.
Money is still cheap and people are paying premiums. Why leave so much $$$$ for the competition. Just mount the 4.0 in the 991gt3 gen 2 and keep printing money.
Or maybe they just keep making 991RS. By next summer it might be possible to order one for MSRP.
Seems like RS is almost as street friendly as gt3. So they overlap a bit more in this generation.

They made up for loss of production from stop sale by going into a "thrust" production situation in 2014 starting end of Sept, October, and November. I don't think the stop sale had anything to do with it......3 MY due to available production capacity available and demand still alive.
And no I don't think MY 3 will have any bearing on the .2 GT3...regardless of go or no go

At RRV, AP said there would be less difference between the 991.1 and 991.2 GT3/RS than there was between the 997.1 and 997.2. I interpret that to mean a small facelift; no transmission changes, or complete model transformations.
The 911R, or whatever this unicorn is called, would therefore be a separate model.
