anyone see the chroma flair turbo colors of porsche posted on IG? claimed factory paint job in a color changing color? Also saw an aetna blue exclusive targa is coming out as well.....sorry don't have the screenshots at the moment. Hopefully someone else can post.
Here is what Porsche Centre Oakville posted after a recent visit to the Porsche Exclusive Roundtable by the GM and GSM. Scroll down a bit to see a couple of nice shots of a 2017 Turbo S Cab with Chromaflair Verdec Metallic paint to sample: http://porschecentreoakvillemotorspo...6-nurburgring/

Although I don't love the color of that chroma flair, it's cool to see Porsche trying something different.

Indeed different...and probably very expensive.
PAG had some experience with the 'Liquid Metal'
'Chrome Blue' & 'Silver' paint on the 918...but
that added $63K to the MSRP.
This 'Chroma Flair' might be based on a similar type
of paint technology. In the 918 'Liquid Metal' case,
the metallic flakes were first 'directionally' positioned
on the body's surface (before applying the top clear
coat) with the help of large magnets. This allowed
them to manage & direct how light would reflect on
the surface & come back to be seen by your eyes.
Hence the high cost of that option!
Anyone has knowledge of the additional cost for
the 'chroma flair' paint on the 991 model?
Hello Eduardo - have you heard any rumblings about there being a few PTS slots near the end of production for the RS ? My dealer says PTS is open for '17 model year cars , but of course the RS will all be 16's as I understand it .

I am not sure about Chroma flair specifically but there are many color "flop" paints out there that don't need anything crazy to spray them on. I have seen quite a few used in the bicycle industry. Typically just need to spray them on a black base, but not special guns or process are needed and I don't think the cost is that much different than a normal paint. Even in CJ's case on his McLaren, I am pretty sure this was just a unique combination of color flop pigments put together, but I don't think the application of the paint was any different than normal.

No, I have not re: new PTS allocations on the remaining
built slots. The latter have been reported to me as late
as Jan 2017 production. So PAG is really pushing the
limit on these 'late' MY2016 991 gt3 RS allocations.
Back in July 2015, when they closed the PTS window
on the 991 gt3 RS (and most other MY2016 sport cars),
PAG was expected to wind up production of the .1 991
gt3 RS by early Spring of 2016. So to hear of builds as
late as Jan 2017 is very surprising...and shows they are
really trying to 'milk' this particular cash cow!

Aaron: Keep us posted if you find out anything else on the
'chroma flair' paint option at PAG.

Thanks Eduardo - keep hoping they'll pull a few out of their hat near the end like they did in 2011

With the extended production of the 991.1 GT3 RS, it sure seems Porsche is confident with the engine, notwithstanding the ever-growing thread asking how many engines have been replaced. If Porsche was at all worried about replacing engines during and post-warranty, they sure don't show signs of it.
Thanks for clarifying the color on that one. 'Vesuvio Metallic'
was also a 'purplish' color offered by Porsche in the 1990's.

The color code was 40X or 40W.
I don't believe anyone has requested it yet on a 991 model
because I can't seem to find it on the approved PTS list.

Yup, that's my little unicorn (a 1 of 1 PTS color for the 997 GT cars). Car came from Walter's Porsche in Riverside, CA and was their showroom car. First owner only had it for a few months and traded it in for a turbo and I bought it back in 2013 from the second owner who is a well known RL member. I took off the decals and will take some pictures after it comes from getting the clear bra replaced and detailed.
