Over Revs with PDK-S
I forgot I had the car in manual and selected sport. When the engine hit 9000 it fell flat. I took it out of manual and all was well. I had the DME read and it showed 66 counts in range 1. That works out to about 0.15 seconds at 9000 rpm.
Edit: Check the link below for information on the rev ranges for the 991 GT3 engine and a bit further down the 997 Mezger GT3 Engine. Much tighter ranges on this engine.

With the 997 1 and 2 range over revs were meaningless. I expect the same with the 991, 9A1 engine. We all know range 1s are nothing to worry about as it's just bouncing off the limiter as it should; 2s should be the same.
PDK-S will not allow money shifts.
That said, there are perfectly sound Mezgers out there with a lot of range 3 and 4 over revs; not that I personally would buy one, but sound engines nonetheless.

Technically, no PDK will not prevent an over rev from throttle. It will prevent the aforementioned momentum aka money shift; i.e. from 5th to 2nd with too much speed. However, PDK does allow the engine to spin into the red; range 1 and 2. These ranges are not an issue, but are over revs nonetheless.

The value (66 above) is the revolutions the engine was in the red. As he stated above that works out to about .15 of a second.
I do not have the rev range chart for the 991 GT3, but an example may be 9000-9200 is Range 1, 9201 - 93xx is Range 2, etc... These are nothing to worry about.
Porsche defines over revs by range number, time spent in the respective range and hours of operation (used to be 50) since the over rev (range 3 and beyond in example) to determine if there was any damage.
Ranges 5 and 6 in regards to the 997 were defined by Porsche as damage has occurred, whether you think so or not. These are the dreaded money shifts.
