Default RS or Speciale?

Well damn, first world problems. I have a new 991 Turbo S for my daily and a Italia for my weekend/track car both purchased in the last 12 months.

This week I got two calls. One for an RS allocation which I accepted of course and now I get a call for a Speciale build that I was told this winter was "not available"

Obviously on the RS forum I'm guessing which one folks would chose but no one has driven the RS and maybe some of the GT3 owners have or have driven the Speciale..

and no I can't buy both..I'm happily married and want to keep it that way..

I would wait for 488 version of Speciale down the road.

In car terms that is light years away....I would take the Speciale build but everyone will have their own opinion.....could be the last of the NA V-8 for Ferrari....

If you can afford the Speciale, no brainer. it is a masterpiece.

I love and own Porsche but Ferrari still remains a dream.
personal feeling only.

I would either keep the Turbo S and get the Speciale, or keep the Italia and get the RS...hard choice, but at the end I would keep the Italia and buy the RS and buy a Speciale A down the line for my DD.

Yep, but think buying any flavor of 458 right now (especially new) is not a good idea. Again my .02.

I would get RS and keep the 458...not buy a new Speciale.

Hard to imagine taking the RS over the Speciale. Not only is it an amazing car, but it will absolutely be a collectors item and hold value very well.

Full disclosure I own a 458 and a GT3. I will probably get an RS and a 488. I also have a TT.

My prediction is the special will ultimately depreciate much like the scud did. I would not buy a special now that 488 is on the horizon.

Thanks for the comments. I need a more subdued car for my DD and will likely keep my Turbo (its only 2 months old) as I live and work in a big city. Special A would be amazing but I'm not a big enough fish to ever get one at build (only 500 world wide I hear) and I'm only on my third F car. The Italia is amazing and honestly I would be happy to keep it but I agree the Speciale is pretty special as the last V8 NA, I'm sure you are right about it being a potential collectors item in 20 years. I wonder if the RS has the same potential. My buddy bought an RS4.0 at $220,000 that is now going for nearly $500,000.

About waiting for the 488 Speicale, not to be disrespectful, but that car is likely 4 years away from even being annoucned, so that seams a little silly in this scenario.

I'd take the RS and wait for the 488 Speciale.

I agree with Carcommander - 458S is being overproduced, I had the opportunity to buy one 12 months ago and it was bad enough then and is just getting worse now.

Well as I said I would go with the Speciale.....you make a comparison using the RS 4.0 but I don't think that's fair.....there was a "regular" RS as well....what are those worth today?....that's a more fair comparison.....lots of "what if's" when it comes to this question but you obviously can't make a wrong decision either way.....long term I like the Speciale value over the RS....I don't think either are collectors cars IMHO....

I think the 458 will hold its value. The last N/A mid engine Ferrari. The Speciale will be the last of its kind.

Nope. As an M version the 488 will have only four model years per ferrari. So announcement of 488 monte carlo is about two years away. 488 spider may be 6 months away. It's accelerated on the M version.
