LIFT
Folks
Instead of buying all the ramps and the jacks, wouldn't it be more cost effective to go with a lift? This way you don't need to crawl under the car for oil change etc.
Wonder if anyone has a cost effective lift solution for their garage thats less than $2K or close to that. If yes, price, model, spec please.
Thx in advance

Caution. Poor quality made in China lifts are throughout the market place. Most clearly state " Made in USA". Most are sold by USA companies. Do you want to be under a lift with a well documented failure rate. They are immune from our tort system. Buy carefully and be aware you sometimes get what you pay for.

What is our ceiling height?
What type of overhead door do you have?
Does the overhead door reduce the effective clearance height in the location you intend to install the lift?
What type of lift do you need?
- A semi-permanent/permanent storage or parking lift that effectively doubles your parking space.
- A permanent full rise service lift - typically two post type.
- A permanent mid-rise service lift - typically scissor type.
- A temporary service lift.
If you're unsure of the type you want, please let us know the intended uses (e.g. storage, fluids service, wheel tire service).
On price - are you looking 2k installed or do you have the skills to install a lift yourself?

Look for an ALI certified lift. Most lifts are now made in China. Some are built by subcontractors others are built by USA companies that have their own manufacturing in China. Look for BendPak or Direct lift. As the previous poster correctly points out there are a number of items u have to look at before deciding.

Thanks for your feedbacks.
Ryan,
Hope this answers the questions you asked
What is our ceiling height? Ceiling H=147" and it seems the car can be lifted and clear the rails when the garage door is closed
What type of overhead door do you have? Not sure. Please see pic posted.
Does the overhead door reduce the effective clearance height in the location you intend to install the lift?[B]Yes it does. Measuring from the rail to floor H=125"
What type of lift do you need? Would be nice to store one car on top and service the GT3 in other times
- A semi-permanent/permanent storage or parking lift that effectively doubles your parking space.
- A permanent full rise service lift - typically two post type. Permanent lift would be nice. I plan to stay in this house until buried.
- A permanent mid-rise service lift - typically scissor type.
- A temporary service lift.

You've got plenty of ceiling height. You want to add up the height of 2 cars (typically 50" for sports cars) plus 8. So minimum of 108". I have 116", and it's about as close as I would want to be to stack 2 cars.

That's one clean garage. Time for me to clean up Makes sense about the wheel maintenance but nice to stack them up like you have. Oil change will be quick!!
