Mezger vs. 991 motor

You're living in the past. The future is electric. I'm excited about getting my GT3, and I'll be just as excited when the hybrid or full electric version arrives. To improve, we need to innovate. The 918 was just the beginning, and anyone who thinks there won't be a hybrid GT3 in the next 10 years (probably more like 5) is simply in denial of the changing world.

First things first, a quick intro: Belgian, on my second GT3 (white 997 3.8 CS) while my first was a gen.1 996 in Zanzibar Red.
Had the chance to speak to Herr Mezger in person last April.
He arrived in a manual 991.

if they start making battery powered 911 porsches, their sales will fall off a cliff...at least here in the US....but After riding youtube on the ring in a 918, that battery car gets a pass...lol

Lemme look.
Macca I believe posted he met Mezger when he picked up his GT3. He was driving his 991 Carrera S.

I misremembered slightly. But nevertheless mezger doesn't drive a mezger-motored rig.

We will see a general shift towards hybrid/ electric sports cars in the near future, that much is clear. They will be faster, more efficient and safer, but something will once again be lost in the name of "progress". The spine tingling shriek of F1 cars has been replaced by a flat mechanical fart, and that will eventually be replaced by the electric hum of formula E. The cars will be safer, far more efficient and just as quick... Is it sentimental to miss all that racket? Yep. But miss it I will.
I am probably in the minority here in not being too down on electric hybrid. I think it is one chance for NA engines to still stay relevant in the face of mounting emission and fuel consumption regulations. An electric motor+NA engined GT3 is much more appetizing to me than a turbo GT3.

But isn't the lack of noise in F1 this year due to the shift to turbos? Last years F1 cars also had KERS, but sounded glorious cause of the NA V8.

My not-so-mighty Mezger in my 97.1 GT3 leaked oil on only 3k miles and needed warranty repairs.
I'm not very excited about electric, as my 50th 911 w/PSE is an aural delight. Electric cars -- even fast ones --making the noise of a hair dryer leave me cold.
The transition may take longer than people think, with hybrids, hydrogen and gas alternatives sort out the technological challenges. Anyway, the future always seems to take longer than imagined (30 years ago, people thought flying cars would be de rigueur).
