I still havent driven the car and waiting to get my build slot (if it ever happens now with current problems)
all the frustration and waiting though has got me thinking...
I know its meant to be a good car... but how good
is it a whole F355 better than the 997 ?
I ask but ive been seriously thinking of cancelling my order and picking up a 7.2 and with the rest of the money a F335 - prob gts
I would have the best of both worlds, a gt3 cs for the track(with coilovers mod) and a F335 for cruising around drop top with that lovely noise
Im still not 100% sold on the pdk either, im sure on the track I would like it yes - but not sure if its as involving at lower speeds on the road
On the other hand if I did keep the 991 - I would go for a comfort spec, drive the car most weekends and enjoy the drive to the track more
What would you do in my place?

Agreed. And no need to differentiate between the two models by highlighting that one costs 200 and the other costs 150. Not really a salient point since probability is high that whomever can afford a GT3 can likely afford a TT/S. It's simply a choice based on usage and preferences for driving experience.

I understand that Ferraris have gotten A LOT better lately, but I have experience with two mid/late 90s Ferraris (the 550 and 360) and was a little shocked that someone originally paid so much for something of such poor quality. I was happy to jump back into my 996, let alone a 997!

Just move deposit to RS. They should get a lot fixed by than and who knows how special the RS will be?
We could have am official statement from Porsche in 24Hrs rumors say and the RS / GT2 could be introduced in Geneva in 2 weeks.

GT3 owners & waiters have a lot of patience with the stop sale.....Porsche butt kissing and owner loyalty doesn't do much for me. They build cars to sell to dealers. You gave your $ to the dealer. 700+ cars are potentially branded as suspect.
I'd be pushing the people I paid to take care of me now. Let them figure it out.

Sounds like youve laid out the path you should take, no waiting then as well. Go for it.

I heard from my dealer today that production on the GT3 is continuing. This would mean Porsche has isolated the issue. They would not be producing new cars with this issue unresolved since no customer is going to pay for a car that can't be delivered and with no resolution.

I saw my dealer yesterday, he printed out the production sheet for my car. It has not moved since 2/14. It is "stuck" in stage
v300 - Vehicle exit production CP 7.8. Which means the engine has not been placed in the car yet.
He suspects they have moved the GT3's off the line until a fix is know.
We will all see. This just proves Germany is not telling the dealers what is going on and all is speculation until Germany decides who pays the Bills and salary of the people that work at Porsche - WE DO.
