Thanks for your feedback. That was great!
A while back it was posted that all of the new engines were being run in at the factory, then it was posted that they were not being run in. You obviously were told that they had been. Could you expand on that a little? Who was the source of the information and was there anything else that they said about it? Was it your impression that this was your service guy's opinion, or was there actually some sort of communication from Porsche that a factory break-in had been done? If the factory really did break in the motor, why wait even 100 miles before letting it rip?
Like you, I'm **** about my cars and want to make sure the break in do-over is is done right.

...that is, if you remember, since you'll likely be driving non stop once the cars are back!

Warning about tracking your car soon after replacement engine. Phil on RT tracked his car and a pebble hit his radiator causing a leak which now needs to be replaced. Porsche will do it under warranty. Apparently the protective screen was not sent to the dealer for installation. It was on its way.
Be sure that the screen is part of the replacement engine procedure before tracking your car.

Campaign in other markets is WE21. Nothing in US as of yet, but just for your future reference.

I have the bypass and if sport exhaust is off, it dosen't sound too dissimilar from stock. With PSE on, it makes a nicely noticeable difference from 3,000-6 or 7,000 RPM. After 7,000 I don't think there is much of a discernible (there might be, I just can't tell) difference and the stock sound in that zone is phenomenal already. Below 3,000, the baffles are closed and while the bypass lowers the exhaust tone, it is still similar sounding to a regular Carrera. That is why I had my mechanic cap off the vacuum line to the sort exhaust so it is now on all the time. That, together with the Cargraphic low flow (200 cell cats) manifolds, the car sounds incredible. Revving it at the dealership last pm made me not sleep last night. Stupid stickers.

All Cat A owners (ESP in the US--as it seems the break in suggestions from PAG are somehow more strict in the US...), please report back with info on break in from your dealers when you get your cars back...

-- BTW.. I'll be thrilled if I can officially do 9k rpm after 100 miles.. Had car for 1,000 mi in Jan and never hit over 7k..

If so, what dates did Porsche initial estimate for your engine replacement and back to the dealer?

I picked up my car in Santa Barbara since I got number 1 on the list. But San Diego is my shop. I just lucky, well I guess ;-) getting the first shipment in the US.
I am going to call Sharkwerks tomorrow. I would love it to be a little louder.

Can you post a clip so we can hear this car?

If sginsburg saw it in writing that is good enough for me. We were all aware that they we testing each engine extensively in Germany. I am hooked again and want my GT3
sginsburg - did you notice any thing different about the way the engine sounds ect or is it the same as the first engine?

If they're not putting screens over the radiators, with as sticky as the sport cups are, there will be a rash of radiator leaks.
Mine was trashed when I pulled it out to fix the actual leak. It should have had 10 holes after looking at it close.
Dissapointing news after all this, but not surprising. Wait and see how many track days are now ruined from radiator issues...
