Yes, you are right, 918 uses battery to store the recovered energy unlike the concept. BTW 919 is also using a lithium ion battery. Audi R18 still uses a flywheel based system (and Toyota TS040 a super capacitor). I believe F1 cars also uses batteries now. Not sure if they ever used a fly wheel based system. Wiki says, even Williams never used their fly wheel based system in F1 cause of packaging issues.

If you check out Race Engine Technology and Racecar Engineering there is a lot of Porsche specific content (including GT3 engine info...)

Maybe everyone got their money back, except for those that don't like money?

Interesting, Nick! I heard up today that all the engines from the GT3 stored at the dealership in Dubai have been taken out of the cars (about 13, if I'm correct) and sent back to Germany...

Wow! They would only remove the engines in anticipation of receiving the replacement engines very soon. Lucky owners will be back on the road soon.

I wonder if they would factory retrofit/remanufacture the fix and reship the "original" engines back for reinstallation... overall cheaper than binning 700+ engines ...

According to what I read, the engines will be sent back to the factory, repaired, refurbished and to be used for parts or replace engines under warranty. All built GT3's will get new engines.

Haha. Good point. I wonder if we can call "dibs" on our original, numbers matching, refurbished motors...
