Hi Mark:

No - started when it was bone dry. First on a Sunday evening. Took miles on end to get temp up and I wass already having the feeling that this could be the thermostat. Then Wednesday after that first time it happened again in the morning that it took a endless time ot reach oil/water temps as normal.
Then on the way back (I did a 500 km round trip that day) the water temp reading error poped up (including the message that it is possible to drive on).
Now car is at the dealer and they said it is most likely the thermostat - which I also think it is. Hope to have car back on next Tuesday then I will report.

Nice weekend to everyone

Default Break-in procedure

According to Preuniger the break-in makes a noticeable difference.
He recommends max 5k rpm the first 500km of driving. Varying rpms - but not too much stop/start. After 500km increase 500 rpm each 100km up to 1.000kms and then hold off on the last 1.000 rpms until at 1.500kms.
Just a recommendation ...

Great article of the RS on TopGear Magazine! Makes the wait even worse!

Quoting:
'...this is not a muscle car. This is a precision instrument'
'...[curve' speed of attack is almost irrelevant. It doesnt understeer'
'... double paddle neutral ****: Hero Mode!'

Just one thing i didnt grasp, I know the maximum lateral g's cars can pull is 1.4-1.6g and the RS is recording 1.75!! Is this really possible?

Curves with camber allows higher g's.

sure that "banked turns" make higher lateral g-force possible?
higher curve-speeds - yes, clear.
but pure lateral g-force fron the (angular) car point of view?

may you are correct cause the car is in an angle - so it can work also (purely lateral - seen from the angular car point of view) against the gravity of earth - which it can´t in a flat corner.

I do 1.35g in Adenauer Forst (Nürburgring). Yes it is banked. (In a 997.1 gt3).

I do not do that when it flat without spinning

Default Consolidated 991RS thread

I think those are peak Gs not sustained. The maximum sustained Gs I've seen with the 991 GT3 on the track via the Aim Solo dL (calibrated) is around 1.34 in the GT3 with a peak of 1.68 - the in car showed 1.38 & 1.72 (I don't think it's calibrated as well). orthoJoe, max and others have observed similar on another thread. Peak can be affected by sudden bumps and quick changes of direction etc. it's the sustained Gs you need to be comparing. The French track test compares both cars in the same track (albeit 12 months apart) and you can bring up both SportAuto reports for both cars and compare the Gs for Hokeinhiem short circuit if you want more data points. The RS pulls more G in the faster corners and interestingly the GT3 more in a couple of the slower ones. It's subjective because conditions (weather tyres etc) are obviously different between the tests and the angle of attack and the line that works for one car may be different than the other. There is no doubt the RS is able to handle more lateral G in the majority of corners but the delta on constant G is more likely 0.4-0-.5 G...

here is a screenshot from a friend in Europe GT3 G meter. This I think was one of the European circuits.

just curious if anyone is going to paint the rear lower rubber "diffuser" part of the rear bumper to make the car appear lower? It just looks weird to me with it black like the car is riding way too high.

Non-painted stock look

Painted body color

In a banked turn the Gs will be a bit off; ie more forces become directed DOWN or at a 45 rather than purely sideways...so the banked turn measurement will be a little wonky.

It's a really a trip driving at speed at Daytona, for example...well, it's like driving in a fishbowl where you need to look UP more than ahead...it's so weird
