I believe the issue with the RS is the engine. GT3 engine is definitely punching above its weight and proved to be producing more than 475HP if you look at the trapspeed its producing. The RS on the other hand seem to produce the 500HP Porsche listed only. I would bet the difference between them on a dyno to be less than 10HP.
This 500HP was disappointing as the old 997 4.0 GT3RS produced 500HP without direct injection. Direct injection and newer technology should give the new RS at least 520HP and it should be at 530HP.
This is one of the main reason why i canceled my RS order.

Those lap times bear a little more scrutiny. The biggest difference by far is T1, and it's not far at all from S/F. So the RS somehow got a much faster start. RS then beaten on T3, it's the slowest corner so downforce no advantage. What's really interesting is the back straight they reach almost the same speed when RS should be faster. Perhaps GT3 nailed T3! Rest of lap more as you'd expect with RS slightly faster in most corners.

So for the exact same line you will always have 2x the downforce in the RS vs the regular GT3 at the same speed. Adjusting it simply for the published speed in the laptimes he still had 1.8X the downforce on the front axle in the RS at T3 vs the GT3.

Anybody else who has taken delivery of their new RS who has react of the mechanical noise in the drivetrain? It is grinding, clonking as an old dogbox whith straight cut gears.
I called Porsche after 5 minutes driving after delivery and asked, afraid that is was som serious wrong wth my car. The answer was:"The car is built by Porsche Motorsport, it`s a racecar and sounds like that, keep driving"!

They (dealer) did not even offer a car for time of repair even so in Germany we have a "mobility warranty". Guess I need to push them a bit ....

Don't hear it in the video's but I look forward to it.
I always hear "stuff" I've learned you ignore everything until the lights come on. If it clunks and the car wont turn but another bolt in the sway bar or replace swaybar mount.
We always get stinky whored out rentals at least...
Most of this is driver error through a bad line but most likely over slowing the car. The only thing in the downforce calcuation that changes on any given corner is the angle of attack (measurement of driver error) and the Velocity (which is always squared) - the rest of the equation is constant.

They're turning best laps around 1:35 flat, compared to the 991RS, which is turning around 1:44. Couldn't find any videos of the 996 Cup on race tires on that track. Anyway, the 991 RS is impressive for a street car.

The 997Cup mentioned was actually a 996Cup. Guess that was a typo ...
