If Porsche won't allow PTS in your chosen color, what would be the implications of taking delivery in White and having the car repainted yourself.
To stem some of the replies
- the repaint would be done by one of the best painters available, maybe use an official Porsche body repairer but he would not be THE best.
- yes it would affect my corrosion and body warranty, would it affect my mechanical warranty
- No, I would never consider a wrap
- I'd end up with a stunning rare Porsche color, I think while Lava is good that there will be too many of them.
Ok, hit me with your thoughts

You must take off all the parts, and then rebuild all the car...the costs, the time, than for sure will be not assembled like the first time at the factory.
nono.

Agree 100%, anything less than stripping it to a shell would be less than favorable, remove all wiring and everything else, get car back to bare metal (even though they will tell you that the original paint is good enough to sand and paint over) and they never go back together the same way..fasteners bend/break, windows all must be removed and resealed (even this is occasionally screwed up and you'll have water drip in without seeing it until your car stinks after leaving car door closed for extended period and you can't figure out where it's coming from), on and on and on...very very few shops in country can pull off a factory like job, trust me!!

Funny, I keep going in circles, depending on the day -- lava orange --> white --> GT silver --> and back to lava orange. Ultimately, I think you can't go wrong with any of these three colors. They are all good. I likely will take the lava orange.

Take the paint to bare metal to avoid the added weight. Chemically strip to leave the zinc galvanizing in place. Replace the factory filler.
The bad. Your car is going to smell like a paint shop for years. The stink will find it's way into nooks. All of the interior should be stored off site while the paint and body work is being done, but it will still stink. PAG flew assembly line workers out to ports to do the GT3 engine replacements. Think about that.
