Default Drive vs. Ship Car 2k Miles

Picked up a 991 GT3 in LA and was going to keep if here for a few months till I move out. But now I want it in Chicago.. Was thinking of shipping it, but now I want to Drive it!!! (and I feel more comfortable with me driving it then trusting a shipper) Any comments either way ?? The car is very comfortable, and I don't think 2k is going to hurt the value. Plus it looks like Macca had no problems.

I wouldn't think twice : DRIVE IT!
If you believe in break in,this would prove to be the perfect scenario. Plus you'll get to know the car,so by the time you get to Chicago, you and her will be intimate with each other.

I would drive it. It will be a great way to put on the break-in miles and potentially a fun trip. I think the car is very suitable for a long distance cruise. And congrats on it's arrival!

I would opt to drive it, I had to ship mine out because I had a couple of meetings that I couldn't miss.

La to Chicago. You'll drive thru some snow states and you know how cold its been w/ the global warming thing.

I'd ship it unless you can work in some great driving roads and you don't have to log a ton of miles/day, and can do a little touristy sightseeing. If it's a 4 day straight drive on highways, I'd skip it cause even in a GT3, that kind of driving sucks.

Unless you can schedule the trip with a window clear of bad weather I would ship. The tires on the GT3 are not well suited for any kind of really foul weather.

Good points. Schedule is flexible & working remote. Maybe visit a friend in Phx the first day. Interesting Ideas.. Stay south.. thru AZ, NM, Oklahoma.. then if weather is bad head over to the Tail of Dragon in TN/NC till it clears up.. Or just go there anyways.. LOL.. I think the key is not doing more then 5-6 hrs / day..

I ship it. Driving cross country in the winter with Sport Cup tires, lots of rocks on the freeway, bad idea. Plus, not really a good way to break it in, freeway miles. A broken windshield would make you put a gun in your mouth.
