Well it also says that the driver apparently recognized smoke and oil leakage after stopping (and that the car then caught fire for unknown reasons) .. but how trustworthy the information is … no idea

But I find it unlikely. I think Saeed f*cked up and you wont here any more on that...
WOW why in the hell would he do that? The performance of the car was well known and to go out and almost rework the entire engine for questionable performance gain is beyond my comprehension.

Crazy!

It is crazy, but people do it all the time. Trying to outsmart OEM engineering almost always fails.

As trustworthy as a photo with no real data culled from the internet. If oil was a factor that opens up possibilities of improper servicing and a dozen other things, and potentially puts a very different spin on the incident.

I would guess so based on the front splitter.

Maybe it was a 991 GT3RS mule being covertly tested ;-)

we dont know what caused this BUT If my car had the old thermostat and the dealer said it tested OK, I would demand they replace it with a new thermostat. Don't fall for he dealer said it tested OK.That's crap.

Fortunately, I didn't have to argue with mine. They confirmed that despite passing the test, they replaced it as a precaution. Kudos to them....

@Mike in CA -- my car was produced at the end of January. Upon delivery, should I ask the dealer to check the car out for the outstanding repair campaigns?

Tim, they will probably know as it should come up in the computer, but it can't hurt to ask. In fact, if you have your VIN, the service department should be able to check in advance if your car is affected. My guess, though, is that with a late January build, you're safe.

Thanks, @Mike in CA. Just so I can note it, what are the 2 repair campaign codes?
