911dev: yes, I have a car coming w/ an estimated build date in the Mar-May '14 timeframe. I live in Atlanta (just moved from Boston) and had called to Jim Ellis and Hennessy Porsche when I made my deposit in May, but they were asking way over MSRP, so I went with a dealer in the Washington, DC area. We need to get all of our GT3s together in a few months! - Ken

Hopefully you'll get to personally see the brown in different kinds of lighting before you have to choose. I'd be leery of using just a few pics to decide on an unusual color, especially one you'll be paying a $3K+ premium for. Just my opinion....

You're absolutely right mike ab seeing it in person, and that's the only consolation ab having a late build. But it's a $700 color, not one of the uber stupid priced ones.

It's great that both of you are in NorCal and my potential build will be late next year (holding off to see the RS first as well as wait for the bucket seats). Maybe I can bug you guys at some point to see your colors in person once you guys take delivery

Hmmm.....post #258 describes that car on Pistonheads as Anthracite Brown which is a $3140 color. Mahogany Metallic is the $710 one. I thought Anthracite was the one you were considering.....

Anthracite brown metallic is unfortunately an uber stupid priced one. Well, if you really love it maybe not über stupid.

The good news is that it is a normally priced metallic on the other 991s and Caymans etc so you can go and see one in real life.

seriously though, I need to find comparo pictures of anthracite vs mahogany... I actually liked the darker pic where it looked more "brown".. the washed out one where the anthracite looked like a grey was not as interesting at least in pics. really can't bring myself to pay $3k for a color. back to starting point of indecision I guess.
