$180K is pretty crazy money IMO.
991 gt3 base price here (zero option) is $133K, lightly optioned takes you up to $145K. Another $35K++ and its not unfeasible for the car to price at $190K.
For $190K, I will buy a used SLS and throw a bunch of money at my current gt3 to make it as fast as the new one.
I will not buy a 911GT3RS for almost $200K. Its just not happening. And fyi the only reason the 4.0RS got away with it is because of limited numbers and the knowledge that it was the last of its kind.

Im late to this party. Im happy to forgo my GT3 order and just pay the $200K for endless celebrity BJ's if that option is still available?
As for my famous predictions - I confess to be fairly light on inside gossip on the GT3RS. However the rumors on the configuration in this thread if true are in line with my views expressed a number of months ago on this board.
If you consider the cost/value of the standard options on the RS such as PCCD plus some Carbon lightening (roof, truck lid, fenders), a bit of tweaking and you could easily get to 180-200K I guess....
If you ask me Id say it makes the $135K 991 GT3 look like an absolute bargain (as it has been said before this RS news). Quite honestly the 991 GT3 needs no real options other than bucket seats when they are available....

There won't ever be a fire sale such as when people sold .1's to get .2's.
The .2RS will still soften though. When nobody is buying the .2RS's at the excessive asking prices, they will come down, because the owners will be desperate to get a 991 GT3/RS. Some who think the new RS is too pricey will settle for the 991 GT3, because it will already be considerably faster than the .2RS, which will also help soften values.

The Engine, Motor, The Lump.
Have they taken the newer 9A1 (or what ever designation they gave if) up to a displacement where they can achieve 500bhp?
Looking at thd Supposed cost, dare i say GT1 4.0?

Sorry posting way too much in this thread. Hey Dan and Alex, how soon before we see a 3.9 or 4.0 for the new 9A1? Just kidding. But, can you retro fit an older GT1 into the new Car? There are advantages.
And for $50K extra it better frigen keep up with the 458 Racey version with the REAL HOT SHOES driving them. Talking DE cars not actual cup cars and such. Maybe they will have a KERS BETWEEN the engine and drive line.

The only way the $180k RS price makes "sense" IMO, is if all the options and adds mentioned above (PDCC, lift, seats, LEDs, aero, CF, etc) are included plus throwing in a new lightweight lithium battery and the new 410/390mm replacement cast iron rotors for those who don't want to trash their ceramic rotors with heavy track use.
That said, I think it's a mistake to force all those options. Offer the car at $150-155K, keeping the same RS/3 delta as before, and let buyers add the other stuff if they want it. I still find it hard to believe Porsche will actually market the car loaded this way.
