Why couldn't they just give us both options in one. Keep the paddles but keep the gear shifter and clutch pedal.
The clutch pedal would do the same as pulling both paddles back allowing you to shift with the gear shifter.
Allow us to turn off auto blimp or keep it on if your like. Best of both worlds.

Finally! Someone who reads between the lines and understands what we're all on about... And with all they've given up, to think Porsche have only matched the performance of the GTR... After 6 years and at 2.5 times the price, haha...

Surprised the manual bashers haven't started on it yet, lol...

A lot of it revolves around what Porsche is about today. Are they in it for the $$$,$$$ or do they want to produce great cars which win the hearts of people who love to drive (and have an understanding of what driving really is), maximizing the quality of the man-machine interface to support that? They could actually do both to a substantial extent, using vehicles like the Cayenne and Panamera for the former goal, and GT cars for the latter, but that doesn't seem to be the direction they're taking.

New Vette is fairly high tech, but you can turn off a lot of systems and get it with manual. At modest cost. That says a lot, IMO.

"But let’s take a moment and feel good about the cars that do come with a good ol’ fashioned manual. [...] McLaren: MP4-12c"

Good article and I fully agree. Get your facts right, though!
