There is a GM patent drawing floating around the internet of exactly that.

Anybody want to bet GM follows Porsche's lead and offers dual-clutch only on the ZXX models?

In GT3, even given choice I'd get a PDK, but I would not consider a Corvette with automatic even for a moment. Either it's Corvette demographics or manuals are dying out losing popularity quicker than I thought.

Why would they make the more expensive model available in MT? I think MT is done for the GT series at Porsche, unless they succumb to pressures like BMW did; the major difference being that the SMGIII was not necessarily ready for the big leagues at the time it was released. So between that and the clamouring of ex-M5ers they finally caved and crammed one into the V10. It was actually quite a sweet ride even if it was rushed! My F10M5 is 6MT and the 1st Turbo charged car I have owned with a MT .. not sure I would do it again. MT is best for engines that offer extreme control and predictability which is why so many of wished Porsche offered it. The precise control of the car's engagement offers so much reward to the drivers - that is why manual is still popular regardless of how amazing I think PDK or PDKS is..

P.S. I cancelled my GT3 spot if anyone wants Pfaff Porsche might have an opening, msg me and I can put you in touch with the rep there.

Default Muller Interview - Oct Total 911 - Manual tranny reference

Has anyone posted the Matthias Muller interview in the Oct 2013 Total 911?

His reference to possibly delivering a special version GT3 with manual got my attention

"So maybe if we release a special edition of the new GT3, we might fit a manual gearbox."

(Sorry if I am duplicating a post but didn't find anything in search)

Very interesting, and not just regarding the GT3. Thanks for posting.

A disappointment, based on Muller's other statements in the interview...

The interview says "we could have four-cylinder, high-performance engines. . ."
And that their intention is not to make the Cayman better than the 911. (might be too late for that one)

Can't wait for this really. People suck at driving, robots can't be any worse. Hopefully this will mean less traffic, better "drivers" and more room for me and my non-automated cars.

And, I'd love nothing more than being driven by my car-bot in rush hour traffic or superslabbing it on congested I-35 so I can take a nap. Bring it!

Speaking of Teslas, my wife has one, fantastic car, prefer it to my M3 most of the time. Love out pulling 'performance cars' in complete silence.
