I'm not sure why that is unfortunate. It seems pretty accurate for the crowd that frequents Rennlist. It's skewed towards US customers and current enthusiasts.

This info sheds very little light on the MT vs. PDK argument where the MT is the lower performance choice.

Could be because the Vette is cheap enough and has enough storage space for a lot of people to buy it as a DD to be used in traffic, etc.

An individual in Porsche management said this to me.. "They should have given our customers a choice of MT/PDKS for the GT3". They have all their spots pretty much sold for 2014 but that 70% of the customers were new GT3 owners and not existing clients. The new 7MT in the 991 is sublime especially with the rev matching, would have been wild to see what it would have been like in a GT car...

This - and the fact that an awful lot of 'Vette buyers are more concerned with straight-line acceleration than backroad blasting or track driving. For a lot of guys, it's just the top-tier of the muscle car world - the premier hooligan hotrod.

Hopefully the new GT3 RS will be available in manual

The manual vs slush box only shows that people are interested in the look of a sporty car, vs sporty driving in a car, especially vette owners that are 90% more interested in having a sports car than driving it fast. Most of them never break the speed limit and are far more interested in polishing it. Same for most Viper guys.

It's more about convenience and image than performance. The same will ring true for dual clutches vs manuals. Most enthusiasts will still opt for manuals. Albeit more enthusiasts will want to try the latest tech vs a manual. But the image/garage queen/waxers will still make up the bulk.

I saw the new Vette this morning at a cars & coffee. Looks like a Vette, but more angular than before, definitely a transformers vibe. Appearance is pass/fail for me, and I'd say it passes. This one was green with red interior, which looked gaudy to me, and I suspect that more understated colors would look better. I'm eager to test drive one.

Suspect it's part average age of buyer and part lack of bling bling DCT. Having driven most automatics out there from AMG's "slush box" to Fcar/BMW/Por DCT's, don't really see much to separate them these days.

You're a brave man to admit to attending a cars & coffee to this group!

If you want a Vette, you better get to work. I read that there might be a wait of up to six months.

The appearance fails for me. Too much "boy racer", or Transformer, or whatever you want to call it. Like a Lambo - not to my taste. And yes, I would prefer the GT3 without the wing if the aerodynamics could be made right.

There's a good one every Saturday only 10 minutes from my house, so we like to go as a family. Usually a broad range of cars spanning from new Ferraris and McLarens to cars going back to the 20s (Model T, etc.). This morning I saw several Porsches from the early years in the mix. Even saw a street-legal tank this morning!

Just kidding, of course! Nothing wrong with C&C's, who among us doesn't like to see and discuss great cars?
