You guys should stop posting these articles until I get my confirmation. Anymore of these great reviews and especially track reviews may have my dealer dumping me and selling my allocation for more money.

Yikes, it's only getting better with on track reviews. All of you with allocations are lucky guys indeed.

The one important fact that was missing (or I missed it) from the track test was whether or not the 12C was optioned with the P-Zero Corsa semi slicks or just street P-Zeros. Since the GT3 uses semi-slicks, the 12C should have them as well, to make the test fair (and they are on the option sheet for the 12C). Semi slicks are worth seconds on a course like that.

Grant the GT3 wears trear wear rated 150 Michelin Pilot Sport Cups which strictly speaking arent like a R compound like the MPSC of old (hence have standard road grooves etc). These were "equivalent" in wear rating and performance "spec" as the M12C tyres I believe.

If you put the 991 GT3 on the Hankook 221 R compounds I run on my 993 it would definately be a quciker car on that track than with those new Michelins which have actually become more durable and practical than their out going Pilot Sport Cup tyre IMHO...

This is really the first track review albeit very brief and only against one other car.

Ive been led to believe by someone in the know that this GT3 will really shine at the track above all else and basically kill everything up to the new 458 "scud" (2.5x+ the price). Its a real weapon on the track and holds tyre temps well etc. On anything between 1.5 and 4.5 mile tracks with straights no more than say 150-170 mph I think you will find this becomes the ultimate track day weapon...

So, do you know whether they were Corsas or not on the 12C? I'm not familiar with the treadwear ratings of the P-Zero and Corsa (which I find to be a bit misleading anyways).

The review doesn't say which tires the McLaren is equipped with. It does say that it's the same car that lapped within 1/3 of a second of the $1.5M Pagani Huayra last year.

Anyway, to make it really "fair", EVO should slap the Pirelli Corsas on the MP4-12C (if it doesn't have them already) and then restrict boost to give it 141 less horsepower so it matches the GT3. Then the test would be "fair".

Just looked it up and the Corsas only have a treadwear of 60, so I guess the 12C was on street tires and the GT3 was on semi-slicks (even if they are not as aggressive as the original MPSC's - which I hated by the way - they have to be faster than the Super Sports as used on the Carrera, right?)?

Hey, the GT3 is clearly impressive on the track. I'm not trying to take anything away from it. I'm just trying to put its performance into context. The 12C is way faster in a straight line, so I'm trying to answer for myself whether the GT3 is really that much faster than it in the corners.

If Macca is right about 150 treadwear, then I think the question is not definitively answered (since it seems the tires were not the better ones for the track that are available on the 12C which are 60 treadwear, but still street-legal).

I was hoping the 12C was on Corsas - then I'd simply be in awe of the 991 GT3's handling. As it is, I'm simply impressed and wondering where things stand in absolute terms...
