@collector. How many have posted on this board about their angst of no buckets v. how many buyers nationwide? Yep, a minority.

Would be interested to see the worldwide numbers on cars ordered with buckets in the 997.

@ nick, the cost of certification is built into the cost of the seats.

Frankly, I want both, with some quick release hardware that permits quick seat swaps.

Do you know why they are delayed?

Frayed, I agree the cost are built into the seat but there is a tipping point to the price. If the cost of certification and redesign of the seat for the US market is significant and Porsche anticipates only a small number of orders, I doubt very much they would go through the expense and try to pass those on the the customer.

The seats now are priced around $6000 for ROW and if they start charging US customers $7000-8000 then OEM seats are fine for me. Frankly, at $6000 I am having difficulty justifying the cost.

They certified them with changing regs last time around, so certainly they will this time around. Like said many times before, the 997 GT3 was launched in the US w/o them, just as this one is to be.

yeah - you won this one..I know. But it all adds a bit, maybe 5% of potential buyers dont buy because of the seats, another 30% because of only PdK, another 5% because no racing pedigree (at least so far, and it seems the 991 GT3 engine will never be put in an 991 RSR, based on Harmud Kristen´s words recently) etc.

Yes, we are a minority..but remember - all changes in - whether politics or business - started out from a minority.....

I heard it had to do something with the "heart" of the car...but as this info was not from the most reliable source..its pure speculation. Anyway..in few months we will probably know the reason...if there is/was a real reason...

The GT2 Sport Buckets (6point harness factory seats) on the 997 cars was a $2800 option...very well worth it. Or order from the local dealer to replace stock seats at $6800. So ordering with the car from Porsche was a great deal and great seats.

WOW! Hope they make them an option before I order the car. Not likely but one can only hope.

Default Cost of the 'sport bucket seats' on the sport models in the 997 & 987 era!

Mike, I think it's worth clarifying your statement. It is my understanding that (in the US) the sport bucket seats (the gt2 type) were 'Standard' or a 'No Charge' Option on the MY2008 997 gt2, the MY2010/2011 .2 997 gt3 and .2 gt3 RS, the .2 997 gt2 RS, the .2 997 Limited Edition 4.0 gt3 RS, the MY2011/2012 987 Boxster Spyder and the MY2012 Cayman R! The carbon fiber sport buckets with alcantara inlays cost me zero-nada-zilch on my Spyder! They were a cost option ($2800?) starting on the regular .2 997 starting MY2009, although I never saw one after that model year ordered on any regular .2 997 or remember that option on the regular configurator after MY2009! I also don't remember them being offered by PCNA on any other 987 Boxster or Cayman model, NOT even as an extra cost option!

What is the story on the MY2011 and MY2012 GTS like yours? Did the sport bucket seat option cost $2800 on the GTS or was it a 'no charge' option on that model?

What I had anticipated in the US MY2014 991 gt3 and the MY2015 gt3 RS was the continuation of that 'no charge' option policy for the sport bucket seats on these special models. The sport bucket seats on Porsche's 'most sporting' of models (gt3, Spyder, Cayman R) would be a 'standard & n/c', unless you preferred the 'Sport Plus' at no charge or the 'Sport Plus Adaptive' at an additional cost! I am still hoping that the US MY2015 gt3 RS will come with sport bucket seats at no additional charge!

Saludos,
Eduardo

FWIW, the P03 Sport Bucket option on my '09 Carrera S was $3125.

Believe the sport buckets were an extra cost option for the 997.2 GT3 and were standard equipment in the GT3RS.

Hello,
My name is Sam and I just joined. I wanted to start a new thread (I paid) but couldn't find out how. I have been following the GT3 forum for a long time and it was the initial information here that made me order one, instead of the new Turbo. Quite an impressive group here on this foirum. I am number 4 or 5 on my dealer's list so hopefully get mine in the spring. I currently have a 2013 C4S PDK that I have tracked for 12 days since I bought it January (Motorsport Rasnch in Cresson, TX).
I wanted to post here because of a seat problem that I wanted to share. I am well aware of the no sport bucket seat option yet and that is not my intention to further discuss. I have the Sport adaptive seats. I typically inflate the bolsters to max while on track. This past weekend, the chest bolsters failed. Dealer thinks its a ruptured bladder from the cornering forces. He can't even find the part number so they are in touch with Porsche so who knows when will that come. Since I use mine as a DD, and will do same with the GT3, sport buckets are not my best option. I was planning on the sport adavtive seats but now, perhaps I should get the seats that do not adjust. Has anyone experienced this before or do you have any advice? Thanks in advance.
Sam

991GT3 sport race seats are actively listed as an option on Porsche Germany and United Kingdom website along with Clubsport goodies............drat.............for chrissake I had these seats on my 2009 997.2 car when I ordered it.

I guess we all have to go back door but that is not the way to do it. Factory ordered so she is originally equipped.

Joe, those 991 Sport Buckets will not work on a USA 991. Also the 997 Sport Buckets you had will not work on any 991 car. FYI.

Between not being able to get the proper seats on a 991 car and the fact just to change the oil filter and air filters on a 991 you have to remove the rear wheels and bumper plus a host of other parts...I WILL NEVER BUY A 991 based car.
