I owned the Mini for 5 years and the GS3 AV for about 6 months.

The argument for the GS3-AV is consistency. If you brew one particular type of bean and don't do a lot of experimentation, then having volumetric shots is a nice thing. Basically just press a button and you get a consistent volume of espresso. I'm using a grind by weight grinder and it's pretty much brainless - the shot consistency is rock solid with very little tinkering, dealing with scales, etc. Waking up early in the morning, I like that. Also the open deck makes things easier to manage in terms of work flow and the machine is lower than the Mini which makes it easier to work around overhanging cabinets. I also like the steam wand position on the right side of the machine and the joystick actuator better on the GS3.

All these things are small things that are very specific and may or may not matter to you - it all depends on your style. Only time will tell. Micra is a good start if you aren't sure.

I've been back riding for about 1.5 years. Lost about 20 lbs and a lot of my joint and back/neck pain has gone away. Being in my late 40s I've probably hit my peak fitness level, so I've stop pushing myself into the redline and learning my limits. It's been more enjoyable.

Moots are great bikes - I rode that Vamoots RSL on the right for 10 years... the Firefly is a work of art.

Although this habit does produce some interesting parking lot trolling. Came out of a restaurant once, was parked at least 4 rows further out than any other car in the lot, with tons of available parking much closer to the entrance.

And right next to my car, slid most of the way over in it's spot to be closer to me, was a BMW of some sort. Wiseass. LOL Had to pull out of the spot to make room for my GF to get in the car. But I was laughing while doing it. Gotta love a good troll-job.
Parking away from the rabble never seems to work. I can have dozens of empty spaces closer than my car and when I come out there usually is a truck or van next to mine. I only got smacked once. I was parallel parked and when I returned there was a hole in my front bumper and a note on my windshield with the guy's phone number. He backed up too far and his hitch... well, use your imagination. All better now.

I don't single dose and I like grind by weight where you get a precise and consistent dose every time. But I'm all about efficiency and consistency more than the art. I love my Mahlkonig e65s GBW. Retention is surprisingly low and it's built like a tank. Expensive, but I think you get more bang for your buck spending money on a grinder than a machine.

I'm know mooty has good reccs on single dose grinders and the like. It really depends on your priorities and style to figure which is the best for you.

I thought you wrote "micro dose" and assumed I missed part of the conversation...
I think single dose grinder is the way I'll go, but have no preference. The one you linked is amazing. I'v e been looking at Eureka Mignon Specialita and others sub-$1k, but price is not the driver.

Good info on the Mini vs GS3.

I also use a Mini daily for the last 4-5 years and I need to buy a machine for another home. I was thinking about the Micra but the GS3 probably makes since for me since I would love volumetric.
