I had tempered expectations (it’s not a Porsche for sure). BUT…it handled beautifully. Not as “crisp” as a Porsche, but for the size and weight - it’s well done and very enjoyable to drive. The ride in comfort mode was as cushy as the Cayenne (in comfort mode). Cabin noise was more than acceptable and quieter than I expected (even when I chose RS2). Exhaust sounds are fairly muted in “normal” but amp up a little in RS1 and even more in RS2. It’s not overly loud which pleases me, and I can see why some folks put exhausts on. It’s quieter than I thought but that’s a good thing in my case.

My husband has a very bad back (multiple surgeries) and was expecting a stiff ride with 22” wheels and very little sidewall. It far exceeded his expectations which is great. I’d much rather have cars we both enjoy. He almost never gets in the GT4 any more (too low, LWB force too much contortion to get in/out).

I’m thrilled to have a very unique car that looks great (to me) and is versatile. It has the same cargo space as the Cayenne with rear seats folded! And the biggest surprise is that (to me) it looks SO MUCH better in person than in photos. Especially the wheels which I was not fond of. They have really “grown” on me, and in person look good. I can’t quite explain it but I thought the car was good looking from most angles in pics, but in person it’s even better. Very happy to have it after chasing a build since 2022. And never having driven or ridden in one it was a gamble (but figured if we didn’t like it, should be an easy sell). I know it’s not everyone’s cup-o-tea but I’m thrilled and could easily see this in the garage for more than a couple years.

@mooty your skills with the “coffee art” have grown tremendously since I first saw your attempts (how many years ago? A few?). As usual, the topics in this thread are fun and I visit often.

Hubby adjusting tire pressures. That’s our former 2021 Macan GTS in the corner.

He surprised me with this model a few days ago!
Congrats. Funny how these things happen - I should be taking delivery of an RS6 Avant Performance next week. They're just cool cars - oddly enough with the R8 gone, they are the current halo. My wife thinks I'm nuts buying a $153k msrp station wagon. To be fair it probably is, but this has been on my bucket list for awhile. I haven't driven it so I'm hoping it lives up to expectations. I used to own an M5 Competition and I'm thinking it should be similar.

Since this is the general gear thread, figured I'd post up my new camera. Made the jump to MF with Hasselblad. The autofocus is slightly primitive, but it's good enough for what I need and it's very accurate. The files are a lot of fun to play around with - 100 megapixels and alot of dynamic range. Have only had a chance to do test shots - looking forward to our trip to Italy in a few months. Either way it's the nicest feeling camera I've owned and surprisingly small/light.

lol. I tried. I really tried. Had a Leica M-P and nice Summilux 50mm. It just didn't click for me. I learned on digital, so that's probably part of it.

So far, I'm impressed with the X2D. Probably will pick up a 90mm (72mm FF equiv). Expensive though.

Is film still used? Where do you get it developed? (If you don’t have your own dark room)
My nephew bought this recently. I was a bit surprised but he’s enjoying experimenting with it

Personally, I would send my film off to get developed. I used to shoot Portra and occasionally Ektar. There is a huge amount of variability in the quality of the prints depending on the type of scanner (Frontier vs Noritsu) and the competence of the lab. Between shipping expense, development and price of the film itself - the overall cost per image definitely adds up. The wait time is also something I never adapted to - I'm too impatient.

I used to send my Ilford film off to the last lab (i think) in the US. The wait and cost killed it for me. Probably have a few rolls of HP5 & FP4 left in the camera bag.
Shooting Leica Q2M has given me back the B&W authenticity you cannot get from color-to-black & white conversion, imo, but I'm no pro.

Editing to add: Steel bikes, Campy mechanical. Shopping La Marzocco Mini R or Micra...can't decide. Food pics to follow if people don't mind.

young buck learned on digital.
that was when I quit.
I loved Leica view finders, but it ware realy $$$$.. was in grad school when I did serious photography. so maxing out VISA / MC I amassed Nikon FE2, FM2, F3HP, F4 then cannon digital destroyed Nikon
I quit after that

yes, pure BW is best, cant really convert color to Bk Wt, tonally it's weird.
micra is as good as mini. EXCEPT
it is very very small, looks like toy which is great if you have counter space limitations
I you put 6+ shots consecutively , micra can't hold temp. needs 5 min to get back NORMAL. but most home used wont need 6+ shots all one time
mini or mini R gets temp instability at 8 shots or so. then needs 5 min rest. I tested many times as I would pull 10+ shots non stop when I trying to learn how to pour arte early on
jut get one of the two, don't research anymore. I have slayer, GS3mp, GS3av, LMLM, LMLM R, and played extensively with micra. almost bought LEVA then saw it in person.. while I have the space, it is just rediculously humongous.

when I shot 100+ frames a week some 30years ago, yes I am ancient. I had own dark room
then it becomes inpractical to run chemical when you only do 20 a week or less.
back then there are many really good labs to develop and even print.
soon there after, no more labs or jsut ppl who have no idea how to develop or print.

Great advice. Think I’ll try the Micra.
Thanks.

See you on the road.
