Default Dundon Street headers Vs Race setup Vs GMG kit

Hey,

any one has experience with both?

it looks like a lot of second hand cup car owners switch to the street headers and not race headers.
i remember speaking with the guys at GMG when they had their headers in stock to run with my GMG center section, and they recommended running the stock side mufflers with their headers to not lose mid TQ, their headers is very similar to the dundon race kit.

someone local to me sold their GT3 and is looking to offload his race headers + loud muffler at a very low cost.

also concerned about noise, I know they both sound great, but the loud muffler with no cats, has to be “very very” loud…?

any insights or thoughts?

No reason to go catless with the Dundon headers, their street headers make the same power as their race headers.

Dundon street headers plus stock muffler will sound better than stock, but not overly loud and will give you performance gains. Hard to argue with that if you are concerned about the neighborhood.

I have ordered street header system to run with stock muffler.

I need the car to pass emissions and not stain the the back bumper, which I hear catless will do.

Cats will prevent too much stress on the muffler causing it to blow and reduce the noise a bit.

Cheers,

Mark

I have the Dundon street headers with stock center muffler. Loud on start up, but settles down to only somewhat loud at idle.
About equivalent to the stock neighborhood Hellcat Challenger across the street.

I run the Dundon street headers with the factory titanium muffler on my 911R and the street header with the Dundon loud muffler on my Speedster.

The reason why is because the R has a much louder set up from the factory than the Speedster, so the muffler from Dundon was unnecessary in my opinion.

I had Dundon street headers on my ‘15’ GT3 and 2 ‘18’ GT3’s with ZERO issues.👍👍. Great addition.

I had 3 exhaust setups on my 991.2.

First, just a gmg center. Woke up the car a bit and gave it the growl I was looking for.

Second, Dundon street headers with stock center exhaust (loud was on back order). Added a bit more mid range and was noticeable at idle. More vibrations in the vehicle and just felt more raw in a good way.

Third, back order was fulfilled and added the dundon loud to the dundon street headers. My favorite combo. Car was fully alive now and absolutely insane between 8500-9k.

Loved it so much I now have the same system for my 992. Can’t go wrong imo. Good luck

I bought the car (2015 gt3) with the GMG rear section only. Just had my indy mechanic install a set of the GMG catted long tubes two days ago. It's wicked! Not sure I would be happy with the headers/oem muffler setup. I think it would be too quiet.

edit: also added the Soul Performance exhaust valve controller, money well spent.

I have GMG header and center section with stock sides and get compliments all the time on the exhaust note. Cruising there's minimal drone. WOT it's loud, 6th gear is completely quiet. I wouldn't change it.
