Speeding Tickets

26 years of driving spirited, zero moving violation, but pulled over 25+ times but most of that in my youth, 3-4 times in the last decade. In general, do not speed or drive aggressively around other cars or people. If/when a cop gets you, its a lot easier to talk your way out of a ticket if you arent the a-hole weaving through traffic.
When you get pulled over, park in a safe area for the cop. Angle your car to protect them from traffic if you cant completely pull off to a side road. Be humble and respectful, plenty of thank you's and sorry's. Let them know that you know that your sorry for making them spend time telling you that you screwed up. Keep your hands in clear sight and move slowly. Admit being wrong to anything they say, dont fight them. If you dont respect a cop, they will make it as worse as possible on you. Act (might not need to act) a little nervous so its clear that this interaction has impacted you. Their job is to punish you, if they feel the pull over is enough they will pass on the ticket.
All sounds like a lot, but 25+ verbal warnings later, I still dont know how tickets impact my license in my state.

Most detectors have gps + wifi tuning for false positives. Every state but PA uses laser.

Not to say they don't work, they do but only on a specific road here where cops drive with their radars on. Other than that, 1000's of useless K band warnings. It's gotten to the point where my radar detector will be blaring out loud and I'll ignore it. Sensors from other cars set it off along with other random things on the road/highways. I use a Escort 360c.
I'd like anyone here from AZ come in and tell me they get LASER warnings on their detectors, where, when, and which PD.

Those features almost do nothing. 10+ years of driving on a radar/laser detector and I've never once seen the LASER warning go off unless I point the detector at my PCM which gives off a LASER alert due to the finger proximity sensor. I live in AZ, law enforcement out here does not use laser regardless of what your link says. My unit has been all over the southwest and west coast. In every state where cops are camping they're using K band or KA band. I have bodycam footage of my traffic stop and in the cop car I saw his model radar gun, I looked it up and it states it's a K band.

The ALP system is for the laser, not your radar detector. Given the size of the beam, you could be shot with a LIDAR gun and not know it with your 360C. GA runs almost exclusively laser on the highway and my ALP has gone off many times just in the few months since installing it. It also includes coverage for any tickets you get if the system fails to prevent it.
Either way, point to the OP is just use your eyes more and stay more alert. Get to know what under covers look like, what they drive, license plate patterns, and look for suspicious hide out areas. Cops looking to hand out speeding tickets play cat and mouse and don't always camp out with their systems on. I've seen pick and pop instances where the cop only activates the radar when he/she wants.

I used to have counsel on retainer as I get a ticket every week and the local LEO KNOWS me on sight...
hey I was young and dumb once.
then I found track days...
I am on track literally 50 days a year.
for 15 years or so...
once I found track day I have zero interest going fast on street any more. In fact I got so slow that my wife drives when we go out b/c she finds me going at snail pace. so join PCA and get on track

1) Buy a Uniden R7.
2) Take your car to the track.
3) Get a good lawyer.

But I’m surrounded by highways and back roads…. Anyway, thanks again really appreciate the feedback.

And if these cars could talk right now, I bet it would be a pretty interesting conversation.

yep. This is all good advice thanks for the feedback. Except for the people that just said don’t speed. I don’t know who can drive around in high performance cars that can go 200 miles an hour and not actually ever “speed” once in a while. Technically you can’t even “floor it” to 60 on an on ramp, because ..,that could be considered reckless driving. moving violation number three. So just follow “rules of the road”, it’s hard to adjust to. Even though like I said, my driving season is shot this year. Probably will just leave the cars on the battery tenders. And I was right there with most of the comments, went about 10 years and no tickets and then all of a sudden this and now I’m in some sort of idiot category, I get it. No idea how this happened. And regarding the track days, the only track I have access to is Road America which I love but anytime I go out there it’s a mandatory three day commitment during the work week. Drive distance and all. To make the 7 AM meeting on a Tuesday, I have to leave Monday and I can’t make it back home until Wednesday. So until I retire, really track days aren’t an option for me to often right now.

You need to speed, these cars are built for track use. I've been doing it for over 20 years while actively working. I've gone as far north as Mosport in Canada, and as far south as VIR in, well, Virginia. Took my family and made a family vacation out of some trips. No more excuses!!.
