Default How to setup track precision.

I've been trying to get track precision to run on my '19 GT3 RS with no success. When i try to connect to my car via wifi, it immediately drops the connection after directing me to a page to select country.
I don't have PCC registered (found out activation cost $260 at dealer... wtf!?!).
Is PCC requirement for using track precision? Or am I missing some steps here.

I personally wouldn't even bother. An AIM Solo2 or Garmin Catalyst is much easier to setup and will also provide more reliable data, depending on what you need.

I actually have the garmin catalyst setup, it’s awesome. But it doesn’t hook into obd2 so throttle/brake inputs are missing.

what "end" drops the connection, your phone or the PCM?
what phone are you using with the app?
what version of the app?

happy to help try and solve this since we are "local" we can try to connect your phone to my car or my phone to yours ... debug what's the issue lmk

country page?

This is why I run both the Catalyst and a Solo2 DL.

From time to time, the app will fail. In the GT4 forum there is a nice post about this app.

Here are some tips:
Phone in airplane mode and wifi activated.
First time you connect to a wifi, wait a couple of minutes until the phone says that there is no internet connection in the wifi, and if you want to keep it, and you have to say yes.

Regarding PCC activation, I'm not sure about it.

I had trouble initially, but once it is setup it connects automatically.

The app does give you step by step instructions, which is what I followed. You have to connect your phone to your cars wifi. Make sure the phone isnt trying to connect to another wifi source. I think I had bluetooth off during setup.

From memory you have to connect to the wifi but you have to go through the "phone" button on the PCM to do it.

I did not have PCC setup

Biggest issue for me was typing in the VIN password. I tried to connect the app to external GoPro and it dropped a few times. I will not do that anymore.

May move to the Solo setup, but think there is an update coming so waiting to see what happens.

In the interim, I pre ordered a RaceBox Mini. Supposed to be a small 25hz GPS device that can connect to 3rd party apps. For the cheap cost, thought it would be worth a try.

I cannot get it to use an external camera to record for the session. I used my phone as the camera, which is fine when the instructor isnt in the passenger seat. The GoPro will not work since that is wifi and the wifi is used to connect to the car. I use the GoPro separately and then import the video to the phone after. I then match the video to the data and synchronize before exporting the file off the phone.

I cannot export more than one lap at a time without my phone freaking out. I put the individual laps on my laptop and merger with an MP4 joiner.

Here is an example of multiple laps merged together

and one lap by itself

The video was recorded on GoPro Hero session 5

I have a 2016 991.1 GTS (so I suppose I have PCM 3.1) : does anyone know if my car is compatible with the Track Precision app?
How to I know that my car has WIFI connection? I have slot for a SIM Card under the PCM screen, not sure that is relevant?
I have not been able to connect my Iphone to the PCM so far.
Thanks

Thanks for responding! It seems like its my phone which drops the connection (it shows the porsche wifi point as disconnected after). I'm using an iphone 12 pro, latest version of the app. Always happy to meet up with a fellow owner though! (was also looking for more porsche events/meet ups in the bay area)
