Looking for collective wisdom on buying a 991.1 GT3 (2015)

This makes so much more sense. You live in CA where there are GT cars everywhere. Be patient and you'll find what you're looking for on the left coast where you can look, touch, and feel and get that PPI yourself. The no-PPI attitude at the Maserati dealer 2500 miles away would absolutely make me WALK from this deal. RUN, actually.

^^what he said… and what’s $5k or $10k in grand scheme of things?? So many folks out there who put less than 500 miles a year on these amazing cars as “investments”, and ruin it for everyone, especially those who actually enjoy driving these remarkable machines.
So just do it!
Here’s some gratuitous “****” on what a 40k mile GT3 can look like just sitting in the garage look what you’re missing out on!

They haven’t done a PPI dude, there’s bias in them doing it. Plus, it takes like 2+ hours and should be done by a Porsche tech.

If this is the car I'm thinking of I took a look at it in person a couple weeks back. I would ask for better photos of the rear bumper (it was backed in under a lift in the service bay so I couldn't get a great look at it but I believe there's a crack or imperfection on the drivers side). I couldn't see detail or any damage in the photos on their site. They also had a portion of the interior taken apart (under dash panels with some exposed wiring, I'd be curious to know what they were repairing or removing).
The last piece that isn't a huge deal but would likely bug me.. one of the previous owners painted the 3.8 depression in the wing uprights, one side looked fine but the other side had some drips.
I think they paid $101k at auction.

As a general rule of thumb, any dealer that takes in a trade and then sends it to auction does not feel that car is worth the risk and parts with it. That doesn't mean it is always a problem car, just one that a dealer would rather not get entangled with for a number of possible reasons.
However, my local Porsche dealer will take in and resale some older cars, but they must be much better than average. Like any dealer the have their reputation and the possibility of additional expenses for repairs to weigh against more secure dealer stock.
Right now things are a little different because of Covid, the chip shortage, and availability of new cars. This drives dealers to retain more trade ins, which raises questions as to why this vehicle went to auction in the first place.
As mentioned earlier, any seller that rejects a request to have a PPI done is a red flag.
Lastly, does the seller have all the service records?

Price is decent with shipping included. Biggest concern for me would be that it's an east coast car, and something I've always avoided. I don't want anything from a place where it snows, although Florida is the number 1 place to avoid for used cars.

What year and when was it purchased? Miles are on the high side and it has the less desirable taillights, but seems like a great price especially with PCCB!

I really like the clear taillights so great spec for me. PCCB were a must and the only thing I did get were the buckets.

btw, to the person who said they’d never buy a NorthEast car due to the snow, I’d say 2 things in general: (1) I don’t drive my Gt3 in the winter with salt on the road (it’s in a temperature controlled garage), but (2) far more importantly, condition and provenance is what matters
much more. I’ve seen enough CA, AZ and FL cars in terrible shape - if you exclude all northeast cars, you’re missing out on some great cars and potentially good deals….
