I doubt it'll be a direct swap. Dimensions of the 991 vs the 992 shift boot base is going to be different and I'd also guess that the mechanism that you press to engage different gears is going to be different. If you want the leather housing on your 991 GT3 shifter, you're probably better off checking if a company that does aftermarket leather work or other parts work can fit leather on yours.

I don't think you can buy a 991 shift boot and expect it to fit. You will need a custom solution by an experienced shop.

Finished this change today. I ordered the Suncoast PDK shift boot kit above as well as the 992 PDK shifter. Taking the 992 shifter apart was the real PITA, other than that it was pretty straight forward. I was never a big fan of the shifter so this is a very welcome change for me. It was $1,175 plus shipping from Suncoast. It's cheaper if you do leather but I wanted alcantara to match the rest of the car.

Just installed the GT4 RS pdk shifter,
plug and play since the shifter boot of 718 is the same as the 991.
