I called Beverly Hills Porsche to do my service. I ended up doing it all on my own (which is not hard) buying an icarsoft scanner so I can reset my service intervals and saving a couple thousand.
Exactly, should be broken down by job with labor hours and part cost. Will be interesting when I take my Speedster in next year. Hell, my 5 year service on my 675LT was under 2k last June.
Crazy numbers - in Germany that filter costs for 400 EUR for Touring. What is funny is - in Touring it is a BMC filter that can be cleaned and can be re-used. Same as the RS.
Regular GT3 should be using a normal paper filter.
I installed also BMC filters to my 981 GT4 and I bought them from BMC directly for 160 EUR and 40 EUR for the cleaning and oiling kit.
I know not everyone has the means or space, but nothing on that list is remotely difficult or time-consuming. The plugs would be way easier with the wheels removed, but not necessary. But if you're going to do a bleed, they're coming off anyway. You could knock all of that out yourself in a couple of hours at home on a Sunday. The only thing I've paid a dealer to do is the PDK service.
I did mine myself. I did not even bother to spend $150 to buy the scanner to reset the oil service interval.
I used the money to buy tools, none of which I actually needed to do the service … of course with the tool addiction it would be cheaper to pay the dealer
What is an “Engine Restoration Service”? If one purchases Prepaid service then you are not subject to dealer price fluctuations. I got 5 years on a Speedster for around $7500.00.
Appreciate all the support here! Happy to report that Irvine Porsche called and agreed to waive the 600.00 to replace the bumper. Interestingly, the service advisor was nowhere to be found. The valet guy must have been instructed to quietly hand over the keys.
A couple calls later I found an indy shop that was happy to do the same work for 1900.00. A whopping savings of 2k.
Here's some guy in his garage taking his bumper off with hand tools. Takes him 15 minutes, and he doesn't take them off and on all day for a living. I bet it takes a tech 10 minutes tops, being careful. He would know exactly where all the screws, etc are and probably get a hand from another tech just to speed things up.
I am quite the DIY-er myself as well. But at times, I just feel like handing over to the dealer to get things sorted out and in return, I get invited to private events, week long test drives on new cars etc.
Though near $4k is indeed a bit much for 10k service.
