And you don't have to remove the rear wheels...for plugs or brake flush. What takes the longest is replacing the Touring air filters, as you have to remove the rear bumper cover. Now that I've done it once, I could probably do it in less than 1-1/2 hours now.

Default UPDATE

So after several calls back and forth JUST to figure out where they are at with the service, I finally got a call stating that I can pickup my car at noon because they took the bumper off. Cost to put the bumper back on? 600.00. 😡

I’m beyond pissed. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all the forum members that chimed in. I’m sad to learn that price gouging is an ongoing thing with dealers. ADM I understand.. but for service too..

Tell them that if they charge you that $600, you’re gonna start a thread on Rennlist about it.

Default Bumper Removal

Same thing happened at Napleton- dropped off my 997 GT3 before work a few yrs ago for Sharkwerks Bypass install thinking it wouldnt cost more than a few hundred $ based on Sharkwerks estimated install time; called a hour later and the service dept said 10 hrs / $2000...at which point i said no. They said the bumper cover was off and they could put it back on but it would cost over $500. They graciously (NOT) knocked it down to $350 after I spoke to the service manager. Have never been back until calling yesterday about the 20K service for the 991.2 GT3 ($2800). Again, hard pass...will be taking it to Midwest Eurosport or Ogden Motorcar

Put it on a credit card and then dispute it. 600 dollars to put on the bumper is ****ing robbery.

It's not just Porsche dealers. I have found vastly different rates quoted for identical services at both Audi dealers and Kia dealers, so it pays to call around to various P-car dealers, if you are fortunate to live in an area with several. I am in the NYC area and there must be seven or more to consider.

I don't know why dealer service isn't more standardized, at least within regions, other than antitrust rules, but.....

That is CRAZY. Oil Filter, Fluid, Spark Plugs, Coils, Air filter, Engine Air, Brake fluid.. That cant be more than $500 for parts.. They want $3,300 for labor? WOW

$600 to take the bumper off ? Come on now. With two Porsche trained techs it should not take more than 30 minutes. And the only time you need the second guys is when you actually put the bumper back on.

This is the exact reason why I no longer take any of my porsches to the dealer. Every time I took my cayenne turbo S in they wanted anywhere from $600-$900 for a oil change and a inspection. Something that actually costs less than $200 at a local indie shop.

Aside from owning and loving my Porsches, I have owned many GMC vehicles. A brand of which I also love and their service department always makes me feel like they are being fair and costs are always reasonable. I know, apples to oranges but a oil change is a oil change. So is any other maintenance items from cars to cars.

Can you really blame the dealers? If most of the owners of these cars have no problem paying markup that by itself costs more than the cost of a brand new SUV, the dealers will of course expect the same type of clientele in their service department as well. Come on now, dont be cheap, tsk tsk tsk

Ask for James Cockcroft in service @ POTML and tell him Zack at Momentum Worx sent you.

He's a good friend of mine, and he'll get you taken care of. Goes for anyone else here, as well.

Default FINAL UPDATE

Appreciate all the support here! Happy to report that Irvine Porsche called and agreed to waive the 600.00 to replace the bumper. Interestingly, the service advisor was nowhere to be found. The valet guy must have been instructed to quietly hand over the keys.

A couple calls later I found an indy shop that was happy to do the same work for 1900.00. A whopping savings of 2k.

Imagine if you actually had stuff that needed to be repaired... 30k for a clutch replacement or something??? Yikes!
