I waited for a month and still didn't get a diagnosis on my F430 F1 transmission, your whole engine was replaced during that time.
If there problem seems to be as widespread as you believe then maybe you should compile and track down all those affected and make a case out of it ..
Like all relationships in life, they sometimes end unexpectedly on a sour note...May be move to F-car ...

Agreed-
First I hope that the problem isn't widespread but if it is, it's basically up to us enthusiasts to figure out if the problem is widespread because Porsche isn't going to do us the courtesy of just bringing it to everyone's attention and front loading the problem. Like the 991.1 GT3 issue, it took enthusiasts making noise and banding together to figure out that there really was an issue and then PCNA sprung into action and did the right thing. PCNA of course has detailed stats on % of engine failures and nature of the failures, etc.
To your point, maybe a F-car is in my future.

I guess a question is how many engines failed with that mechanism compared to those which haven't?
It is a respectable endeavor to compile the engine failure numbers, OP.

I understand your concern but this is the first issue with your car and your second guessing that it might happen again on your personal speculation from what you’ve heard. I don’t think manufacturers can accommodate everyones concerns like that.

I sincerely hope you get the compensation you’re looking for. The .2RS are retaining their value, so my advice would be to sell the car and get something you have confidence in. Stories like this make me feel better about my red headed step child .1 that I bought at a 33% discount to msrp that still has 4+ years left on the warranty.

Could this issue be a reason to favor a 992 S with Sport suspension and maybe RAS over a 992 GT3?

So they have given you $3500 plus 2 year extended warranty (worth $6500) and a brand new engine on a 2+ year old car and you are not satisfied? What else should they have done? Reconfigure the production plant and build you a brand new 991.2 GT3RS? I think your expectations are unrealistic. They have given you a pretty good deal. I have dealt with similar problems with every kind of brand (euro and domestic) and I can tell you this is a pretty good outcome.
If you hire an attorney, the cost will far outweigh what is being offered to you. Not to mention at this point you dont have a case. You did if they werent able to fix the car in 30 days. The law makes it clear that the manufacturer has to either fix the car or buy it back. It doesnt say “to the customer’s satisfaction” which is entirely subjective.
At the end of the day, its a car. Whether its $20,000 or $200,000 or $500,000 doesnt mean a thing as far as a lawsuit. The most drastic thing you can do is to abandon the brand and not give them your business going forward but I think thats too extreme.
Also given the rarity of this car and complexity of the analysis required to troubleshoot (and that covid makes things slower), I think your timeframe is more than acceptable. I have had things far more “obvious” (such as a body panel being painted a different shade of color on a brand new car with 2 miles) take exponentially longer in other brands.

1. Car is not 2+ years old. I have a late production model. It is just shy of 2 years.
2. Whether a car is 200k or 20k completely affects the offer and outcome from a customer service perspective. Car was out of service for + 30 days. Law is about equity- PCNA doesn't want to have to buy a car back with a lemon on its title. At that point, it's worthless and they've lost the customer.
3. $3500 is a total joke. That covers a set of floor-mats, bolster covers, and the gas guzzler tax. The customer acquisition cost for Porsche on GT cars is much higher that most people think. It's a small community of people who buy new GT cars and it's not easy to expand that buyer pool. Service the customers you have!
4. The real question here: how many other .2 RS owners have had a catastrophic motor failure? That's honestly the only question. The rest of was shared in the spirit of transparency so fellow enthusiasts know what they offered me. What's the secret. I personally think it's a measly offer but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
