991.2 GT3RS Complete Engine Failure & PCNA Response

Engine replacement, extension of warranty and $3500 for 4 weeks, a period that the majority of GT3/GT3RS drivers barely drive the car: sounds like amazing customer service.
OP’s aim of trying to help others in similar situation is commendable. The dissatisfaction at how Porsche responded sounds unreasonable. The resale value may have decreased (not sure in today’s market) but one can argue the company’s take is this was a car made to be driven, not an investment.

The real question which no one has commented on- is who else with a catastrophic engine failure is out there on the interwebs? PCNA uses NDAs to shut people up. If it's no one, fine- even good. I just have bad luck. **** happens. That's what I'm trying to figure out!

Given that, they have treated you more than fairly. From what you've said, I don't think there is anything they could have done to please you here. Sell the car and move on.

The question is how widespread is it? That's the point. I have received some PMs from people who have had similar issues. I'm writing to see if others have had the same catastrophic engine failure. I have no interest in a class action law suit. My interest lies in finding out if there is a widespread issue and if so seeking a resolution.
Buy that Ferrari and be happy for the week before you hit your first problem.

While I am sorry you had to go through this I think what they did was 1) more than they needed to do based on what was committed to when you bought the car and 2) fair. If there was a widespread issue with .2 motors we’d know by now given this is the largest Porsche forum out there...

Oliver. All the replies side with Porsche. Don’t take offense but all the rattle shaking on your end is starting to look bad. You get what you get don’t get upset. You’re not getting anything more. There is no widespread problem with the engine. Sell the car, don’t buy another, move on to another brand.....

But seriously, I think Porsche did the right thing here and I’m not sure that you would have been happy with anything they offered you. Sell your car and move forward BUT if this episode was bad in your opinion do not buy Tesla, McLaren, Ferrari or Mercedes as I have had FAR worse experiences with the service on those brands than I have ever had on any of my Porsches.

OP is a snowflake. You're not as important as you think you are.
Car is fixed so either drive the crap out of it now that it's "worthless" (which it is not), or sell it and move on if you're losing sleep over it. Even if you were given a 10-year warranty, you would not keep it for that long anyway so what's the point.

You have zero diminished value. You have a new motor, and an extended warranty. Your car's value has increased.

So I still don't see any posts on a significant number of engine failures on this forum. At the track we're about close to 20 with the PDK setup GT3 and RS and not one failure after 3 years of tracking. So far so good...
I would have expected a deluge of postings on this thread by owners reporting engine failures if truly there was an issue.

A lot of people come to Internet forums seeking validation, often under the premise of alerting others to the same (potential) issue. The consensus here has been that Porsche responded effectively and appropriately to the problem. Even if the particular issue the OP describes is generalizable to a wider number of cars does it matter if they respond appropriately to each occurrence? As others have pointed out the widespread .1 GT3 engine issues were effectively addressed by owners and Porsche. I don’t think the OP is going to get a “we was robbed” supporting consensus and should make a personal decision to be satisfied with the outcome from Porsche, or sell and be satisfied with the knowledge that he will not repeat the same mistake.

OP, obviously people will give differing opinions regarding whether the compensation was adequate or not, that’s a matter of debate.
Was any specific fault diagnosed or was the whole engine shipped back to Germany for root cause analysis?

Amazing dude comes on here and wants advice and hates it ............100% of the responses you were treated fairly, and then you say ohhh I didn’t provide all the information. Clearly we see who’s the problem go enjoy the car or sell it ........it has a new 100k motor from the factory. Porsche analyzes all engine replacements, and if the problem was wide spread they would issue a recall like the 2014’s. They have lots to risk with a bad motor so I’m sure they will always do the right thing by a customer and you still haven’t said what you want??
