Default GT3 Brake Rotor Track Upgrade

Good evening. I am curious about brake upgrades for a 991.1 GT3

What do you prefer and why, and tell me where the best place to purchase them.

1.) Girodisc
2.) AP J-hooks
3.) Brembo Type III

I am pretty set on Ferrodo DSUNO's, for track day and HPDE's.

Prepare for 100 options.

I run Girodisc / Race Tech RE10s. Clark @ Apex Performance. (I run Ferrodo DS3.12 on my 991.2 Cup)

I don't have as much experience as others on this forum, but I'll chime in.

Had AP Racing on my 720 and was really happy with them. I believe PFC is another good option.

My.2GT3RS came with Surface Transform and I REALLY like these for the longevity compared to the PCCBs for the track and no brake dust to show when I drive it on the street.

I use the AP Racing (caliper & rotors) with Ferrodo DS3.12 pads - very happy with this set up.

Now is a good time to buy the AP J-hooks from Essex as they have a 10% off special on rennlist. This is what I have on my RS.

By far the most popular choice of all my GT track buddies has been Giro Disc rotors and Ferrodo Pads. Have just started to use the DS3.12 pads, so don't have much feedback on those yet, but everything I have heard so far was positive.

Also, Clark at Apex and Ron at Discovery parts are great vendors/people.

Stock calipers, AP rotors, RE pads. Lasts and lasts and lasts.

The AP Racing Pro 5000 R kit is definitely a great option. We use this setup with DS1 Pads on our shop car.

I have driven with all of the above OE rotor replacement options on track. They are all good products. Really can't go wrong with any of them. It has been my experience that the slightly more costly ones generally tend to last longer but on the other hand the replacement friction rings cost less on the shorter lasting ones, so its kind of a zero sum game over the course of a few years. However, the wear characteristic goes beyond the rotor brand and the rotor construction. The brake pad choice and the driver's braking technique contribute a lot to the wear characteristic. Sorry, I am of no help on helping you decide.

Since I am being anti-helpful here already, let me introduce one more option, a newer product on the block, PFC Brakes V3 380/380mm OE replacement rotors, 991 Cup quality rotors-

AP J-hooks with Raybestos ST-43 pads, great on track, good and noisy on the street. Going to try the Ferodo DS3.12 pads next. Love the J-hooks....

Agree stock rotors are great, I still have them on the rear, but once they are gone, AP are more economical in the long run.
