Default Two Year Service - $2,400??

My 991.2 3 RS was put in service on 10/2018. I took delivery (car sat unsold at dealer) on 9/2019 with 87 miles. I had the one year service done at that time which was a free oil change. Now a year later they want to do the 2 year 20k mile service. Car has 7k miles on it now. Cost is $2,400 which includes pollen filters, wipers, brake flush and spark plugs and a couple other things. Is this right? Never had a car as of recent needing all of this work with such low mileage and relatively new. They gave me the time or mileage scenario which ever comes first. Seems completely unnecessary and overkill. I don't track the car. If something needs to be done then I'm fine with that. Really spark plugs at 7k miles in this day and age? Thought I'd post here for feedback/advice and experiences.

Many of us are doing spark plugs as quickly as 6k miles. Seems excessive, but prevents rough running problems that some have experienced in relatively short intervals (time and mileage) and helps to ensure that the plug boots don't get stuck to the heads and become damaged on removal. All of the 2-year items are easy DIY items that can be done for a small fraction of that price if you are so inclined...

In addition to plugs, brake fluid is something to attend to after 2 years, even if not driven (and engine oil every year).

I am curious, if these things are done by myself, or by an independent mechanic, is that something Porsche would be upset with?

Just thinking into the future, in case something ever needs to be replaced under warranty.

No, they are not upset and it cannot affect warranty unless you screw up and they can demonstrate that a subsequent warranty claim was the direct result of your screw up. I present receipts for parts and my own log including date and mileage of self maintenance to dealer and they record it and reset service light for free.

OP: Sucks but I'd do all that work. I'd have it done at an indy. None of it requires the dealer.

No question replacing the pollen filter would void Porsche warranty. DO NOT ATTEMPT.

Seriously, this is why many of us have a local good Indy shop for big jobs and learn to do small jobs DIY

Great car buy the way!

I was quoted 3k recently. That includes plugs and brake flush but I had done a brake flush at 5k. I’m now at 13k. I ended up buying plugs, ignition coils, breaker bar, torque wrench, new jack, jack stands, cordless ratchet and more for probably a little less than what it would have cost at the dealer. i enjoy working on the car and rather have the tools on hand for future duties.

so far the Milwaukee cordless 3/8 ratchet has been my go to. When Installing dundon loud center last week it literally took me 30 min fit and finish with removing bumper.

Everything nice is expensive. However, I still like to ask questions and weigh my options, instead of gifting money to the dealership.

I'd say wait. I recently changed my plugs myself at 12,000 miles. I had no issues with the original plugs. I'd say the only thing that needs to be replaced is the brake fluid. BTW, my wipers are just fine after 2-1/2 years. I'm afraid this simply is the dealer wanting to unnecessarily take your money.

My 2 year service on a 2018 Touring is $2K. After I pay the bill I raid their refrigerator for customers. A couple of salads, two sandwiches and an espresso. :-)

You're going to need more than that.

Wipers can certainly wait (my originals are great after almost 3 years), but fresh oil every year is not something I’d miss with an engine like this (hate to have a warranty repair refused for this reason also - that’s a $75k risk - you’d likely win a fight on this, but not worth it), not to mention such an engine deserves fresh oil on schedule - it does degrade even if not driven much.
