Two Year Service - $2,400??
#16
Was given the following a la carte quotes by a local dealer:
Oil change: 450
Plugs: 580
Air filter: 650
Pollen filter: 212
Brake fluid flush: 300
This is for a 991.2 3RS. Parts will probably cost ~$800 so definitely a significant savings opportunity for the DIY savvy.

I questioned the air filter quote as well and was told that labor was high due to bumper removal (which is a 30 min job for me)

Service costs at dealerships are excessive and Porsche is no better or worse than the rest. I use the dealer only during the warranty period because I am too lazy and paranoid to let my local independent do the work.

You’re paying for that snazzy service bay, and that beautiful building is rolled into the price. Porsche is not different than Ferrari and Mclaren as many are starting to understand. My Mclaren service was 1400 for fluid changes and brake flush on my 675LT.

I know some scoff at the DIY route or may be afraid to do so. I can assure that the plug change, air filter and brake flush on the 1-10 difficulty scale are a solid 1.
I say this as somebody who wouldn't take unnecessary risks working on this car myself, but these two jobs are insanely easy for the money that's saved and the frequency at which they're required.

For those of you that have done your own plug change on a 991.2 GT3, what is the appropriate gap setting for the plugs? Do they come gap'd correctly out of the box or is it necessary to gap them?
Thanks

They are already gapped precisely in the box. There are four electrodes surrounding the center piece, so it would be quite a job if it was left to the user...

Pleasant surprise indeed. It was my dealer who told me about it (not even sure if they were obligated to tell me). So I would encourage all the other 2nd owners on here to explicitly ask dealer if the service was previously purchased ...
