there's a gap on here between what people want to pay and the actual market is right now.

This. Although by definition the market is the market, meaning people are obviously buying these things. Inventory is low... not a lot to do/hobbies, lots of money lying around equals dealers maintaining pricing.

Perhaps, but in my experience CA, TX, FL tend to be their own relatively overpriced markets compared to the rest of the country for all brands of higher priced cars due to just higher demand in general. Inventory is ridiculously low for everything still right now for sure, but winter is coming...

Winter is coming, for those who keep on waiting for unrealistically low prices. COVID has delayed new model intros and will slow production as well.

So you think $2K above MSRP is a good price for a 2 year old car?

Listen there's always a chance that someone has gotta have it - but i dont think i would pay that or classify it as a realistic price or where the market is at unless it has unique color (PTS) or something that makes it a "gotta have". Especially if its not a Touring. There are others out there and i dont believe you have to pay over MSRP.

I dont get the premium people want to pay for a Touring vs a manual GT3 but Touring market seems to be strong.

In normal conditions, probably not.

But all luxury item markets right now are totally crazy. Rolexes, beach houses, motor homes/campers, airplanes... Don't even think about boats!

It comes down to: What do you want? Can you afford it? How long are you willing to wait for it? And how pissed are you going to be if you guess wrong on timing the market?

Life is short...

Yep, these things are ALL expensive. Great time to be a seller, but there are a TON of buyers atm for not that much inventory...

I agree AND there's this weird time with Porsche. 991 Gt3 is 1.5-2 years old, next one is still not near, 992 Turbo's are still not here, allocations are tough to get (for now), supply chains were disrupted, top 1% have done Ok in the stock market, tech is hot, money is cheap (to borrow), you cant really travel to expensive vacations etc - so people are spending their money on golf, watches and sports cars and vacation homes.

I still dont like to waste money regardless. Its not like a Gt3 is uber rare. If there is a PTS Touring and is your exact spec - then yes spend whatever it takes. For a run of the mill GT3 - they are not hard to find under MSRP with 5000 miles as an example. No matter what people say about these being DD's very few have 10K miles and up . And if they are >10K miles then even better as their price is lower. Unless you're buying it not to drive it. Why pay extra for a garage queen (primped to the max)

Most cars around me are a few k under MSRP and that seems resonable. Those expecting 15-20k under for all specs (save for bare bone strippers) are not. Time is money in my book. I don't stress out about "overpaying" (on a relative basis) by $8k for something I will enjoy for at least 3+ years. In the meantime, others can feel free to keep waiting.

I'd never spec leather but if it comes on a pre-owned? priceless!!!

We have countless threads on how to maintain resale value of GT cars.

Then when it comes time to actually buy a used GT3 people bitch and moan about how overpriced they are.

Humans.

We have met the enemy. And it is us.
