Angry HELP!!! Porsche San Antonio denying warranty on CPO car =(

2016 GT 3 RS , purchased the car late 2016 from Park Place Dallas, CPO Warranty until 12/2021. No problems with the car at all. Only routine maintenance has been done to the car. A few weeks ago, I got a warning light indicating REDUCED ENGINE POWER, visit work shop. The car was sent to Porsche San Antonio for evaluation. After 2 weeks, the shop states that there was of faulty relay behind dash/speedo area. This relay controls one of the cooling fans. Makes sense so far. Today, they called stating that this will not be covered under warranty because they found a "pink relay" that is aftermarket and apparently the culprit. Thus, NO WARRANTY! The dealer insinuated that I had this relay placed in there? WTF I have not idea about this. I am the 2nd owner of this care since late 2016. This doesn't make any logical sense....The previous owner had the car for 10 months, why would he/she pay $$$ to somone to put afttermarket relay/take dash apart on a 250K car (at the time) that is covered under warranty?

any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Is this aftermaket?

I have heard that Porsche has actually used the pink relays because they are cheaper. They are relays sourced from China and have a history of problems

For what it's worth. PCNA makes the call, either directly or through policy, about what is covered under warranty and the dealer executes the repair. Much of that decision making process is not left to the dealer. I'd ask to schedule a meeting with your area PCNA After-Sales rep or call Porsche customer care at 1-800-Porsche to escalate. Porsche pays the dealer to complete warranty repairs so it is in the dealer's interest to get the work.

Maybe take it back to Park Place and see who/what was done on the car.

This sounds like a case of the tech never seeing this pink relay before and thinking it's aftermarket. TE is a company by the way that supplies electrical components so it's not out of the realm of possibility they were sourcing this for Porsche. It's also unlikely the dealer could prove this isn't a Porsche part from an approved vendor since Porsche would never pay to have this part (or any small electrical component) marked with their own internal part number due to cost issues. The design team looks for a vendor that can supply them with a part and if they're smart they don't single source for parts like this.

Keep working with the dealer and PNA.

lol park place porsche

I bought my M3 from there. Lets just say what they advertised as "perfect condition" was not. e-brake cable was loose and slapping the driveshaft under load (I had them do a ppi before purchase but they said everything was fine). there were some horrible wrecked cars, some leaking fluid, on top of my M3 on the transport truck as well.

they didn't want to help me out at all to make things right. luckily it was only a few hundred to fix the ebrake cable.

Im sure PCNA will take care of you, if indeed those relays are used elsewhere seems like just the case the tech hasnt seen and is making assumptions. I once was harassed by BMW NA accusing me of changing the wheel sensors on my 2 month old x5 because they didnt match the build sheet they had on file for the vehicle... what a joke, factory wheels, never touched them.

It boggles my mind why dealers pull this BS....they are getting paid to do it one way or another....probably at a reduced rate but not by much....

Well I don't think those are aftermarket and your dealer is BS and uninformed.

Look at these pictures, granted, this is a 2007 997RS... at the time, Tyco was called, well, Tyco. They rebranded and are called Tyco Connectivity and you look up their logo, well that is what is on the Relay you posted.

Tyco/TE are 100% an OEM for Porsche and have been for years

They need to try again.

Chinese electronics are ubiquitous in the global supply network. Even though our requirements always state NO Chinese electronics we had to create a separate office that tracks parts worldwide to insure nothing sneaks through (An Aerospace Engineer who works for a large American defense contractor.
